Newbie From UK

Post by XRT » Sun Aug 16, 2015 2:46 pm

Hi everyone,

Just got my CPAP machine a couple of nights ago, still having a hard time adjusting. I have a Resmed S9 and a FFM and Nasal masks. FFM i can't get used to and haven't fallenmy asleep wearing one as yet. If i lie on my stomach (as i usually did) it seems to leak like mad around the bridge of the nose even though i haven't tightened it too tight. Best option seems to be the Nasal Mask, but the problem with that is mouth opening evey hour or so. Thinking about getting one of the straps to keep my mouth closed at night and maybe P10 Nose Pillows so i can sleep on my front.

Sitting typing this wearing my Nasal Mask trying to get used to it

Fingers crossed

Colin P

There are very many different masks out there and chances of your finding the right one, FFM or nasal, off the bat are slim - see if you can get to try on others (while lying down of course) to find one that suits you.

Try creating a liner for your mask by cutting up an old t-shirt. Liners often help with leaks and shifts of the mask.

Second try a pillow under your shoulders for your head to hang over. Some people use foam pillows with cut outs for their masks.

Search for the modified stomach sleeping position called "The Falcon"

Do not deride the idiots of this world as they make the rest of us look so much better :-) BUT, avoid being an idiot yourself and PERSIST WITH CPAP.
