Respironics bipap missing?

Post by Pesser » Thu Jul 16, 2015 12:28 pm

I have not noticed this before! At first glance it seems that Respironics no longer sells at least two of its bipaps. Specifically the ST and the ASV? It seems that the highest model number is 760. Does this mean they are coming out with new products?

I was hunting around CPAP.com. Anything higher in model number from 760 is no longer available.

Well so it is showing reference only.
We don't know if they (cpap.com) has elected to just not sell that model for some reason or other...or maybe some changes are in the wind.
I will say that it would be unusual for Respironics to discontinue that model first. Typically when a new model is released it comes out in the APAP model with the ASV & higher end model to be the last to be released and often several months after the APAP release.
I haven't heard of that model being discontinued and it is still available at other online cpap suppliers.

So I don't know what to tell you. I haven't heard of anything but that doesn't mean much.

Maybe it has something to do with the bad reaearch result for patients with CHF who used to be a target community for ASV devices?
Maybe some risk management type is a little nervous?
BTW, the equipment list hasn't recognized the 960 for some time.

Intersestingly, ResMed AirCurve 10 VPAP ASV is also missing from CPAP.COM.

Looking at Respironics literature, the following information is included:
Philips Healthcare reserves the right to make changes in specifications and/or to
discontinue any product at any time without notice or obligation and will not be liable
for any consequences resulting from the use of this publication.
Emphasis added.

So, it may be that PR has discontinued the 960 model without notice and maybe ResMed has as well.
If you are using one of these machines, and you need what it does, and you don't currently have a backup, then you might consider getting a backup machine from a DME that has one in stock.

Just a thought.

If I remember correctly Cpap.com never carried the ResMed ASV model.

Maybe a ruling has come down from Mt. Olympus. (the FDA)
That would be odd, though.
