How do I stop leaks by my mouth?

Post by NMcP » Thu Jul 09, 2015 1:51 pm

I'm new to the CPAP world. I had a nasal mask, but I breathe thru my mouth ALOT. I just swapped that one for a full face mask. It is great, but sometimes I wake myself up with those small mask leaks (the ones that sound like farts). What can I do to prevent those? Is there any sort of liner or cushion I can buy or make? I looked on Amazon and other sites but got TOTALLY overwhelmed.

FFM mask leaks frequently occur when the facial muscles relax with sleep.
If the liner doesn't solve the problem, try a soft cervical collar that will support your jaw.
I get mine from Amazon.

If you decide to not go with a mask liner a lot of people like Lansinoh ointment lightly spread on their faces under the silicone of the mask. Here's a link... it's sold at Walmart's and Kmart. Just ask for 'nipple ointment' for nursing mothers. No smell, no greasy feeling plus it is 100% natural since it's made from sheep's wool:

Remember to use just a TINY bit or it will create more problems than it solves. Also, fill out your profile because every mask has its own tips and tricks to a great seal.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.
