Comments please, tell me how things are going in your opinion(s)? Last night I turned off the ramp (didn't like it), and I changed the min pressure from 5 to 6. I'm going to change the min to 5.5, 6 might be too high, we will see. Do you want to see my actual reports, or is this summary good enough? I occasionally wake up with my mouth opening, but I close it quickly, I don't think I need to be overly concerned about that at this point, looking at my leak(s) above.... suggestions on tweaks/improvements?

Re: I got sleepyhead running, here are my stats
The AHI and leak data point to effective therapy...AHI nice and low and no large leaks and what leaks you do seem to have are minimal and well within the machine's ability to compensate.
What does stand out as being sub optimal is hours of use.
Not enough hours of sleep using the machine. Are you only sleeping those short hours or are you taking the mask off and getting more sleep without the mask?
So I would be targeting whatever it is that is causing you to not get more sleep with the mask/machine.
Do you have a lot of awakenings? Trouble going to sleep? If so any idea why?
Sometimes it just takes some time for the body to get used to having all this stuff attached to us and we just have trouble sleeping until the body/brain gets used to it but if you have known problems that wake you up those would need to be worked on.
I think it took me about 3 months to work up to 5 hours of sleep using the mask and machine...another 3 months to work up to 6 months. I have some other health issues that also impacted my sleep quality/hours of sleep so it wasn't all related to cpap use. I think in terms of the brain getting used to things it took me about a month before I would quit waking up wondering if the mask was on. That part I adjusted to fairly easily. I would wake up touching it to make sure it was still there...not because it was bugging me.

Re: I got sleepyhead running, here are my stats
that is my total in bed times. I have been terrible about dedicated time to sleep. This is an issue I am working on. I had one day last week where I woke up feeling like I was suffocating and took the mask off and slept without it. Other than that, I have dutifully worn it. I really want this to work. I am tired of being tired and stupid during the day.
I hope this works!!
Re: I got sleepyhead running, here are my stats
On paper it looks like the cpap part of things is working well.
CPAP can't help bad sleep if the bad sleep is caused by something other than OSA no matter how much we want it to.
I am guilty of not sticking to my own preferred time to go to bed plus I am usually on the computer or watching TV until I do and I know it's bad. Here lately my dogs have been adding to the problem wanting to get up earlier than I want to. So sometimes stuff happens.
Fixing bad sleep from bad habits isn't nearly as easy as fixing OSA. I wish it were.
I don't know if you like aromatherapy stuff but some people find that adding aromatherapy helps and gives us something pleasant to look forward to. Making the going to bed a little more enticing which might help break a bad habit.
Doesn't have to be anything fancy to work. I put a few drops of my favorite essential oil on a cotton ball on a little tray and set it next to the air intake on my machine. If I get too much I just move it away a little bit. Don't ever put anything in the water in the humidifier though.
Otherwise I am sure you are probably aware of whatever habits you have that are causing the short hours in bed...do what you can to break the cycle because 5 hours of sleep isn't near enough to have any hope of feeling much better with or without the OSA diagnosis to make this worse.
No matter how good the AHI and leak are if the hours of sleep aren't letting the body restore itself we are just going to feel like crap. Plain and simple.
I don't know if you are taking any meds but if you are taking some go ahead and do some extensive research on the potential side effects. Sometimes our meds play an important role in both sleep quality and how we feel during the day. Probably not the sole cause of the problem but very well could be a partial factor.

Re: I got sleepyhead running, here are my stats
Thanks for the tips! I think I will try the essential oil idea....sounds.....pleasant, lol!
I only take vitamins/minerals/essential aminos, (otc)
My RX are birth control and Lasix (water pills). I have had terrible lower extremity edema forever- all bodily functions have been tested that could cause it. Nothing showed up, just the swelling.
I need to work on the getting to bed earlier. For sure. Thanks again.
