9 months in, first post! Feedback sought re: data

Post by doughpat » Sat Jun 06, 2015 9:35 pm

Hi everyone- First time poster, looks like a nose community here. I'm putting out a couple of threads to avoid asking too many questions in one--forgive me if I am a bit 'all-over-the-place'.

First--I'd like to ask a few questions regarding my data. I couldn't figure out how to insert an image directly into this post, so here is a link to a screenshot from SleepyHead. http://imgur.com/x2NnGRc (statistics page) http://imgur.com/0mUrvJ2 (summary page) (also--I am unable to copy/paste anything into this window--I had to hand-type those! that seems odd!)

I notice that I have occasional spikes on my AHI index. Most days it is well below 1, then it seems to randomly skyrocket to 3 or 4 (interestingly, nearly always exactly 3 or exactly 4). I'd like to understand what is going on there.

Also, in the same AHI screen, I see a distinct increasing trend starting in May--not sure what that is, either.

In general, any other feedback on this data? I am happy to post more screens if needed. Thanks for any advice1

It is best to post examples of actual days where you have questions. Easier to see what might be happening.

Several links which show how to organize your charts and post them.

https://sleep.tnet.com/resources/sleepyhead/shorganize

Also helps to fill in your equipment in your profile so people know what you are using.

CPAP machine appears to be: S9 AutoSet CPAP Machine
Current Settings PS 4.0 over 10.6-18.0 (cmH2O) - Resmed S9 VPAP Auto w/h5i Humidifier - Quattro Air FFM
TNET Sleep Resource Pages - CPAP Machine Database
Put your equip in your Signature - SleepyHead v1.0.0-beta-1

Hi there--thanks for the reply, Krelvin. Unfortunately, I've tried that link (in this post, as well as from several others) and it appears to be broken....

Also, while I'm the subject of links--any idea why copy/paste doesn't work in this forum? Seems a bit odd.

I filled in my equipment info--thanks for the suggestion. I will try and get some more data for specific days.

Not broken, but country blocked. Too many hack attempts from Indonesia and placed a country block on all of their blocks so I don't play wack a mole. PM me an email address and I will send you the info via email.

You could use the attachment capability, but they are very limited and don't allow a good view to the charts. Forums can't do a paste since they are not a document, just plain text.

Aha! FIgured out one of my questions. The 'spike days' where the AHI is around 4, are actually very very short interval 'sessions'--i.e. less than 20 minutes of use. For some reason, I am only using the mask for less than 20 minutes on these days. I'm not sure why that is.

Krelvin's link works for me....just tried it.
Wonder if it is your browser or something acting up.
Edit...I see Krelvin says it is because of the country being blocked.

We can't copy/paste any images but we can link to the image directly and have them show up immediately...like this one of mine below.
This thread also contains some examples of what we like to see on those daily reports.

Ok--thanks for the guidance. Was able to access the page using a VPN.

Here's a single-day report. http://imgur.com/hsp95N1 (edit: typo on URL)

doughpat,

The only thing that really jumps out at me in your summary data is that you have some inconsistent usage. Although the usage is starting to show better consistency.

While I can't tell you why you're taking the mask off after 20 minutes or so on some days, I can tell you that an extra high AHI on a very short usage day is pretty easy to explain. If you only use the machine for 20 minutes and you have 1 event during that time,
  • AHI = 3 since 1/(20 minutes) = 1/(.333 hours) = 3
If you use the machine for only 15 minutes and have one event, the AHI = 4.

Finally, the single day of data you posted at http://imgur.com/hsp95N1 is a remarkably noneventful night. The leak data is not great, but it's not horrible either. The 95% Leak Rate of 20.40 is beginning to flirt with the 24 L/min Red Line, but what that 95% Leak Rate says that for at least 95% of the night your leaks are BELOW the Red LIne (and ok in terms of Resmed's view). The fact that the median leak rate is 0.0 L/min means that for at least 50% of the night, the machine is detecting no unintentional leaks, and that's really important in establishing that your leaks are not yet a huge issue. There are some areas that look like they might be some mouth breathing, but they stay under the Red Line. Unless leaks are waking you up or you have reason to believe they are disrupting your sleep OR you are waking up with a really dry mouth, I'm not sure I'd spend a lot of time and effort on doing something about the leaks right now. I would, however, keep an eye on them pretty carefully because they're getting close to where they may become a problem in the future even though they are not yet a problem.

Hi doughpat,

Did your AHI finally settled down? I noticed you have a Autoset and I have a bug in SleepyHead with my current Adapt and a past Autoset where Sleepyhead would randomly count some session AHI twice. It is really random in my case but seem to happen more when I have more than one session in one day. This mess up my AHI in Overview view, the AHI in Daily (orange line) and the Duration&AHI in the Flow Rate graph. The only thing that temporally fix this is to go Sleepyhead->Data->Rebuild CPAP data-> "your current machine" (don't remember if you have to quit and reopen SleepyHead after that). And you should see right away if that's the case. Note that as soon as I’ll do my next SD card import all of those "buggy" nights for my curent machine will came back. If you don't want to do a rebuild right away you can also do a quick look at each day in the Daily view and compare the Duration time in the Flow Rate chart with the Hours value in the left pane (where it show Date Sleep Wake Hours), that's how I found I had that bug anyway.

I have SleepyHead v0.9.8-1-Testing OpenGL on Mac OSX 10.10.3
