Cpap withdrawal?

Post by Hensbili » Fri Jun 19, 2015 5:26 pm

Is there such a thing as cpap withdrawal? I have only been using cpap for less than 2 weks and I lovee it. Today I took a 5 hour bus ride and couldn't use cpap. I slept most of the way but I woke up about 5 times while making snorting sound. Prior to cpap, i have never woken up from snoring and thus didn't even know that I snore. Just wondering if I have become ised to cpap machine and it is making me 'addicted'.

Not addicted but your body knows when it's being taken care of. Good for you! I won't even nap for 15 minutes without mine.
Morbius, are you bored?

here's the deal... yes, there is such a thing as cpap withdrawal.... sleep apnea. and, no, you can't become addicted to it, anymore than you've become addicted to breathing... ok so, you're addicted to both.

HOWEVER, the point is, you're no better, or worse off now, without the machine, than you were then... HOWEVER (2, the sequel) THEN, you were completely exhausted, and your body was desperate for any rest it could get, so it managed to keep you passed out through most of the apena crap.

NOW, you're more rested, you're gotten used to being able to breath, you're sleeping, not just passed out from exhaustion, and thus, you're more easily roused when you have the apnea events you were having before.

it's a telling example why you need the cpap.... a frightening reminder of what it was like before... that you were too zonked out from exhaustion to perceive.

make sense?

I think of it more like being terribly nearsighted, and then finally getting glasses.
I never missed them until I had a taste of what it felt like to SEE.
To finally feel NORMAL is as fine a gift as there is.

I've only been using a cpap for 3 nights and I've found that I can even nap without it.

Why would you do that...You can stop breathing during a nap as well as during the night. (I wouldn't be proud of that)

Can't *

Stoopid mobile. I can't access the site from my laptop. I had a glorious 2 hour nap with my CPAP on earlier today.

Nosebleed headache here as well. Today Had the hotel allowed me to late checkout i would have slept till afternoon. That's how tired I was from waking up every hour becuase of my new travel cpap. I used to resolve to go to the gym on Saturdays (no excuse for being busy with work) but almost always end up not going because I was so tired. I often wondered whether I was just making up lazy excuses to not go.
