Make sure you get something supported by the wonderful, free SleepyHead sofware!

SleepyHead supports * data capable * CPAP machine models from the following series:
ResMed S9, AirSense 10, AirCurve 10, Philips Respirioncs System One, Fisher & Paykel ICON & ICON+ and DeVilbiss IntelliPAP

Not really limitless...

If you stick to the 2 primary manufacturers, Philips Respironics and Resmed, and look at the current models there are basically not that many machines.

The break down is even easier depending on the type of machine you need. Their are more advanced machines and basic machines.

Philips/Respironics Basic CPAP Machines (Left out non-Data machines)

Code: Select all

PR System One REMStar 60 Series Auto CPAP Machine
PR System One REMStar 60 Series Pro CPAP Machine
Resmed (Lef out the non-Data machines)

Code: Select all

AirSense 10 Elite
AirSense 10 AutoSet
AirSense 10 AutoSet for Her
Most people would recommend you get an auto even if you use it in straight CPAP mode as it gives you options.

Now you have a short list.

If you need are more advanced machine (Bilevel, S, ST, ASV) the are actually less choices.
Current Settings PS 4.0 over 10.6-18.0 (cmH2O) - Resmed S9 VPAP Auto w/h5i Humidifier - Quattro Air FFM
TNET Sleep Resource Pages - CPAP Machine Database
Put your equip in your Signature - SleepyHead v1.0.0-beta-1

you kinda listed like 50 different machines.

let's help out a bit,

resmed s9 autoset (NOT escape auto)
resmed airsense 10 autoset or autoset for her
philips respironics s1 60series (REF number 560)
DeVilbiss IntelliPAP AutoAdjust
F&P Icon Auto.

any of those would be a fine first choice.

It's a direct copy/paste from the official sleepyhead site:
http://www.sleepfiles.com/SH2/

So perhaps you should suggest to Mark that he make his official lists more model specific?

Actually you missed a qualifier on his page:

SleepyHead supports * data capable * CPAP machine models from the following series:

Some people don't know what is Data Capable from the overall models listed.

The issues with the some of the AirCurve models have been reported.

I wouldn't post the SourceForge link.

Has anyone heard from Mark lately? I emailed him but got no response and his blog hasn't been updated in quite a while. I hope he is doing well.

yes, that's a direct copy/paste. it also does nothing at all to help alleviate the OPs concern, and confusion, as highlighted in the title.

when someone says "there's so many, how can you choose???" saying, in effect, "here's a WHOLE BUNCH you can choose from" isn't very helpful at all.

the fact that sleepyhead *supports* dozens of models, being a completely correct statement, does not help the OP in any way.

narrowing down the dozens to a list of the auto machines from the big four... at least in my opinion, helps to make the selection process less overpowering.

so, no, nothing to suggest to Mark.

There are links to machine info in the Useful Links in my signature line at the bottom of this post.

However, the good choices are mostly listed above already.
