ASV - Getting Healthy, Drop in PTB?

Post by Uncle Flapp » Sun May 17, 2015 8:16 am

Hola. About a month ago, I decided to make a lifestyle change. I gave up the beer (was a weekend warrior), started eating healthy, and took up daily exercise. I've lost 15 pounds and am in the best shape since my 20's. Oddly, my CompSA appears to be getting worse. At the current pressures, patient triggered breaths used to average 80%+ but now they are in the 40's. ASV has the CAs under control and my AHI is often under 2, almost all hypopneas, but the drop in PTBs has me perplexed.

Do y'all think the decrease of PTBs is coincidental or could a healthier cardiovascular/pulmonary system be more sensitive to PAP-induced CO2 blow off? Thinking about lowering EPAP over the next few days to see if anything changes.

Opinions appreciated.

- Flappy

Your respiratory rate's gone down, your pulse rate, which is normal for a more fit person... pro athletes can have quite low rates, so unless there seem to be consequences, or your doctor (please check with him/her) says it's a problem, I wouldn't worry too much.

Pretty cool to drop 15 lbs in a month by just giving up beer. There could be a lesson in that for me.

I got nothing on the PTBs, but it seems to be working for you better than when you first got on here.
