Panty-Manty Hose & Headrest
I will NEVER, I repeat NEVER ever doubt Rested Gal again.
I struggled with feeling good when using the Aeiomed Headrest (aka Aura) for weeks. I used the rubber bands in a variety of ways and I adjusted the Headrest until the cows came home.
I finally broke down and with Lori's advice bought a $1.99 pair of plain, black "non-control top" panty hose at CVS, cut the leg off and "did mah thang!". Two days now and it feels great. It seems obvious to me now that the pillows were leaking enough to affect my rest without waking me up. I should have suspected because it felt just like when I was struggling with mouth breathing.
The nylon (or whatever) is just stretchy enought to snug it up without too much tension, stabilizes side to side movement just enough and is amazingly non-intrusive.
Now, I still get moisture in the interface even with all the insulation, but not enough to snort so I'll stick with it. It is SO
comfortable!

WTG, SB! Isn't it a simple solution? And now you probably can't understand why a man would resist using pantyhose when it doesn't even look like panthose once you cut the leg off and use it. It looks like a fabric strap of some type. The best part about it is, it's so sheer that it doesn't leave any straps marks on your face and so stretchy that it's comfortable and you can "mold" it wherever you need to place it without any problem.
Hope you used RG's suggestion, too, to make like a double knot instead of actually tying it on. She suggests to make two of those loops like right before you're about to make the loops to tie a bow. Bring the fabric end around twice or so and then just pull. Makes it easy to remove and still stays tight while wearing it.
So glad you're getting good results with the Aura. I just can't find any other mask I can use at all with such comfort and get good results.

While I know, for a fact, that men are not big fans of panty hose, for very good reasons, I suspect the male resistance has little to do with concerns about masculinity issues and more to do with having little, or no, familiarity with the characteristics of the material. Certainly that was it for me. My only thoughts about and experience with panty hose in general was to see them GONE, OFF, OUT OF THE WAY! I never studied them, wore them, or messed with them in any other manner so I was surprised by the gentle but firm elasticity and ephemeral nature of the fabric.
At least for now I don't even seem to have to knot the material. I just wrap it once like I am going to tie it and tuck the ends under the straps of the interface.

If you go to the pantyhose section at the department store, you can find a waist slimmer. It is similar to the manyhose idea with no seams, soft and comfortable and both ends are finished.

Glad it worked for ya, SB. Works for other masks too, including FF masks. Seems that a lot of interfaces need just a light bit of support across the front -- for me, anyway.

I am far from the expert but when you get them and see them it will be come pretty evident that when it comes to panty hose, unless they are on a person, preferably a woman, there isn't much there, there. They are pretty light and almost ephemeral so what I did was just cut one leg off at the nexus and used it. It has worked quite well.
Good Luck

Ok, maybe its not the same as the panty hose leg. I have the swift nasal pillows and to keep the hose secure I used a waist slimmer. I fed it over the mask and tube, put the mask on and then slip the entire thing over my head. It keeps everything in place, the tube and the straps and there is no knot anywhere.

Could you possibly post a photo of this on your Swift, please? Sounds interesting.Anonymous wrote:Ok, maybe its not the same as the panty hose leg. I be really curious to see this as well. Now that I have entered the adventurous realm of women's garmets who know's where this will go!
I have been struggling with my Swift lately and was trying to figure out how panty hose might be applied to solving its problems.
Hell, maybe pantyhose can help us in Iraq!

Use one entire leg. Don't cut it into strips.Guest wrote:I'm ready to try the "manty hose" on my CL2. It just keeps wanting to shift too much during the night. One question I have is do you use the the entire leg section of the hose or do you cut strips out of the "tube"? If strips, how wide do you cut them? Thanks!
Actually, the leg cut off a pair of pantyhose tights works better for me than one from regular pantyhose. The material used for tights is very slightly thicker than the very thin pantyhose material. Tights material seems to stay a bit wider, not as apt to roll into a thin strand along the face.
Here's a website that shows how I tie the ends of the "strap" behind the head. Makes a very flat tie at the back...not like a bulgy knot at all.

The waist slimmer as a strap sounds like a good idea, too.

Panty Hose, tights and waist slimmer??????
Ok, panty hose I know. What are these other things, where are they found, how are they identified, how much do they (or should they) cost, and is a man going to get run out of town if he goes looking for them and contemplating their various possible uses before buying them?

Panty hose are usually quite sheer, and tights are thicker (more of a winter stocking for warmth).
Personally, I use a 5 or 6 inch wide strip/strap of tights - not the whole leg. That way, you can get several uses out of one pair of tights, because ultimately the strap will lose some of it's elasticity and have to be replaced.
I also use RG's deconstruction suggestion. It's so much more comfortable without that headgear.
