CPAP for dogs?

Post by hyperlexis » Sat Jan 26, 2013 1:12 pm

Has anyone ever used CPAP on a pet?

Some dogs like pugs and bulldogs have terrible problems sleeping because they snore so badly.

I wonder if a vet could prescribe a CPAP machine?

Perhaps the newest frontier in therapy....

Who knew centuries of selective breeding would give us possible lab subjects?

I will check with the vet when I take the dog in to get her birth control pills refilled. I bet it will be hard to teach her to monitor her data, hope she doesnt paw in the incorrect pressure on her machine. I hope it helps as the dental appliance didnt help much. Jim

Reply,

What if dogs are made to snore on purpose to scare away other predators?

But vets sure could use other sources of income. Just for the excision of the two anal sacs, you, as a dog owner, are in for a $6,000 expense. Same cost as for the latest ASV.

Does she prefer the S9 or the PR machines?

Some breeds can be so picky.

As it turned out she didnt like xpap, she went in De-Nile and since she didnt have a closet, she buried it in the back yard. She never mastered the software printouts either, didnt think she could, she wont fetch either.

All she wants to do is eat and sit on the porch, come to think about it thats all I want to do. We are a good match. Jim

I looked at my dog last night to imagine what type of mask she'll need. She turned her head to look at me... and sorta smiled.

It'll have to be nasal pillows... full face won't cover...

I think it's really disgusting how dog breeders deliberately breed dogs to have cosmetic features like pushed in faces even though they know this causes the dogs to suffer all their lives.

We know that hip dysplasia in hunting dogs is caused by careless and greedy breeding.
We have a kitten that was abandoned near our home, probably a Ocicat that didn't fit the ideal.
All evidence is that the breeder chose to ditch the kitten rather than have him neutered and sold as a pet.
He is so adorable!
