ResScan Has Caused an Exception Error
Does anyone know what the following means?
"ResScan has caused an Exception and has trapped the Exception properly. An event has been logged in the Windoze Event Viewer [RW Exception] that has the details of the exception. Click OK to Quit ResScan."
This happened today as I was creating .pdf reports of my last weeks' worth of data. Every time I save the .pdf it gives me the above error message and ResScan closes. I have to re-load my last week's detailed data and continue where I left off.
Any ideas?

I'd guess something to do w/the 'puter as I will occasionally get that same error message only its most often w/my Eudora, only maybe once or twice w/ResScan. It doesn't happen often enough I've ever remembered to ask my 'puter guru or ask him to address the problem and "fix" it.

Understood. It's a 6 month old lenovo running WIn XP with the most recent service pack, whichever that one is, 4 gig memory, enormous HD, behind an impenetrable corporate firewall with all kinds of antivirus thingies and is set up and maintained by the corporate geek department. I don't think that's the issue. I was more concerned about the meaning of "ResScan has caused an Exception and has trapped the Exception properly." I don't know what that means. Apparently something to do with the internal workings of ResScan or a conflict between ResScan and something else.

You should not have to reload the download if you click the save button before printing.
As to the exception error, someone else had posted another thread in the last week or so about this happening with version 3.14, I believe. I don't remember whether a definitive cause or solution was found, but I don't think there was. It is most likely an issue with ResScan's use of old code libraries which are used when building the PDF.

Re: ResScan Has Caused an Exception Error
I'm using v.3.13. The errors occurred at different times. Sometimes when I hit SAVE after the .pdf report was generated, sometimes while loading the next file. So I thought maybe it might have to do with the SD card perhaps becoming senile. But it's never happened before. I'll see what happens next week.
Re: ResScan Has Caused an Exception Error
Do you regularly erase or quick format the card? If you don't, that might be the reason.

No, I never have. It doesn't appear to be full, so I keep using it.
Re: ResScan Has Caused an Exception Error
Your Data Execution Prevention (DEP) setting is on for all programs. You can do one of two things:
1) Turn it off for all programs except essential Windows services (not recommended - lets viruses into IE if you're a user)
or
2) make an exception for ResScan
To make a DEP exception, right click My Computer and select Properties
Click on the Advanced Tab and under the Performance section click the Settings button
Select the Data Execution Prevention Tab
Click the Add button.
Browse to your Resscan install folder (i.e. C:\Program Files\ResMed\Rescan3) and select the ResScan.exe file
Click Ok to accept and it will add ResWare Shell Launcher to your DEP exceptions with a checkbox.
Repeat the same steps but this time type in HTML2PDF.DLL instead of selecting the ResScan.exe file
Click Ok again to accept and it will add HTML2PDF to your DEP exceptions with a checkbox.
Click Ok to close all dialog boxes and reboot your computer. When you restart, reports will work in ResScan
