New concern

Post by jazzmynn1 » Sun Apr 26, 2009 11:05 pm

Hello,
I really need some more encouragement!

I am going on 1 month of titrated pressure of 15.

About two weeks ago, I had company from out of town and got messed up on my sleep. I stayed up late and one night slept without my cpap machine. So, I was feeling exhausted and moody.

Now, I am still having some tiredness, and bummed out feelings. My doctor says it will take awhile to feel better.
My biggest concern is that I feel achy in different parts of my body.
I read a post that said from finally laying still while sleeping with cpap can cause muscle soreness because you don't move around as much.
My doctor said lack of oxygen can cause the soreness too.

Amnyway, she is testing me for side effects from my cholesterol medicine and some other stuff.

I'm scared of the pain and feeling emotional.

Anyone have this happen?

Thanks.

Using cpap can lead to more stiffness and achiness when you first get up because you may be getting more restulf sleep and not tossing and turning as much. You need to assess how long that morning stiffness and achiness lasts. If it is lasting for several hours or most of the day, In my opinion, you need to get it checked out.

I'm not a doctor but it may be arthritis. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and one of the things I have to keep track of is how long morning stiffness and achiness lasts. If mine last several hours, it means my arthritis meds need assessment. I have had sleep apnea for almost 7 years but RA for almost 20 years so have some experience with the possibilities of the cause of the morning stiffness. It really depends upon how long it is lasting, whether or not it is related to sleep apnea.

If it is related to sleep apnea, it won't last as you get accustomed to more restful sleep.

You have not been on cpap therapy for very long and your body is still adjusting and getting used to sleeping with the mask and machine. Your "messed up" therapy when you had the company, certainly can contribute. All of us do that once in awhile and we don't feel so good until we get back on track with our therapy.

It does take time. Your experience is quite normal. Just do the best you can to keep a regular sleep hours most of the time and use your machine every night, all night!

Good luck!

I have been on CPAP therapy since the first of January. I still feel tired, but the mind fogginess is gone Like Hawthorne I also have RA and a bad lower back. That means I do toss and turn alot because no one position is comfortable for long. I did notice early in my therapy I would wake up stiffer in the morning, but either I am getting used to it or it isn't as bad, a hot shower always helped too. The Dr does want to up my medication again so apparently she thinks that my medication is less effective than it has been... Keeping an eye on how long your stiffness lasts is a good idea. You may want to be checked for Fibromyalgia as well. That causes achy body parts too. I hope things even out for you soon... {{{huggs}}}
