Condition caused by OSA

Post by Marietjie » Sun Apr 12, 2009 11:22 am

Hi - I took a nap this afternoon WITHOUT my Cpap and woke up with a stuffy nose and very sore throat.
It feels flu-like and I had to take some tablets to recover from this condition ! Actually..... I didn't think I would fall asleep and next time I will either stay up or use my Cpap. Now I remember - before Cpap therapy I often woke up with this condition. My husband informed me that I was snoring very loudly this afternoon ! ! ! must have that's why I've got this sore throat now.

I used to do that when I first started CPAP therapy. But the feeling wasn't worth it. Not sleeping without your CPAP is considered practicing bad sleep hygiene. If I know I'm tired and will fall asleep while watching TV, I just go to bed. It's easier than dragging out my CPAP machine. Plus my DVR can record anything I want to watch later.

It is also a good use for your backup machine. Rather than sitting in the closet, mine sits on a table next to my recliner that I watch TV in. When I get sleepy I reach for the mask.

Just a curiosity question, what was your sleeping position?
