Day 2 - I'm on my way....help with the numbers!
I am on Day 2. I do not have my machine posted on the site yet, but I was "given" a ResMed Elite II with EPR. The RT stated I could/would not be able to view my stats but should bring the machine in once a month to have them check it. (not required, just a good idea) There was no data card given to me. He would not set the EPR because my pressure setting is at 7 - the doc said I would not need it. I have a Swift LT (for her) nasal pillow. However, today I was a criminal and checked my history for last night (thanks to you all on how to do it). I do remember at one point pulling the mask off and throwing it about 4 feet which probably affected my leak rate. Today, I really feel great - much better than expected for day 2!! I still have problems with the acronyms and can't remember what is what, and where the numbers should be. So, here they are...please let me know if these are acceptable. Used: 6 hours (wonder if that includes the time it was on the floor!) AHI 1.6; AI 0.3; HI 1.3; Leak .24. By the way, the RT told me during my fitting to only pay attention to the way I feel and if I feel good then it's working.

Your numbers look really good!
AHI 1.6 - This is the apnea/hyponea index, and average of how many per hour you are having.
AI 0.3 - This is the average of the hourly apneas, very good!
HI 1.3 - This is an average of the hourly hypopneas, rally good, especialy with a Resmed, which is more sensitive than other machines to hypopneas.
Leak .24 - This is a good leak number. If you have auto-on set on your machine, then it probably did not count the time you took the mask off.
It is possible to get a .00 leak on the Elite II, but as long as it is under .40, you are doing well. Your numbers, combined with how you feel, say that so far, your therapy is going nicely.
