The Hozer (hose management) first impressions

Post by elader » Wed Feb 11, 2009 7:30 pm

Just received The Hozer from cpap.com. I had an emergency trip to Florida (my dad passed) and took the Hozer with me. Set it up in the hotel. It assembles really quickly, packs down into nothing, and is really light. I have never used a hose management solution before and was a little leary of all the bits and danglies, but HOLEY MOLEY, this thing is great. I had to check during the night a couple of times that I still had a hose on my mask, the effect was so profound. I could flip sides and not notice the thing AT ALL.

Wow. I am amazed. I know I had less leaks and tugs and awakenings. Why didn't someone tell me about this?????

As an aside, my dad was on a respirator and they tried to get him off of it and move him to a Bipap on 100 percent O2 and a FFM. Talk about weirdness. I never know they used PAP for that.

My sympathy on the passing of your father, elader.

I have a different hose management system but they all work well and really help. Thanks for taking time for that review at this difficult time in your life.

My condolences to you. I lost my father in 2001. He was only 62.

Do you think the Hozer would work at home, too?

My condolances. I lost my dad a number of years ago, it's not easy.

oh yeah. There are more 'robust' solutions with solid non flexible rods, but this seems pretty fine. The arm that dangles over you is springy like a fishing rod. I like that. We are still in the 'honeymoon' phase with this thing. I can't wait to go to bed

I also got a sample of the new device from pursleep, cosyhose. It uses a simple two reel system that sticks on your wall. I have not had a chance to try that yet.

Elader,

Please accept my condolences on your Dad's passing. It's never easy. No matter how long they are with us... well... you don't want to let go. It's been 15 years since we lost my mother-in-law, and I still find myself stopping and thinking, "I ought to call Jean about...."

<g> I was the first one to review the Hozer on Cpap.Com, and I really like it. It made my initiation into hosehead-dom much easier! Light, goes together quickly, comes apart quickly and easily... hard to ask for more. Not sure how it will work with the water bed at my sister's, which is why I'm looking forward to testing Pur-Sleep's new device, too. I suspect it may work better with a water bed.

Having easy-to-trasport devices to make traveling with CPAP easier is a superlative idea.

Please accept my condolences on your Dad's passing. Still dealing with settling my parents estate! NONE of its fun..

I built my own "Hozer" -BUT- ALL SO received the "CozyHoze Boss" from Bret and was able to take it on a train trip and have 7-8 lab kids do a complete EVALUATION.
<<This is a PLUG!>> http://www.pur-sleep.com/products/prodD ... rch=&page=
The evaluation was with two people with different mask and setups -they tested the resistance on mask / hoses - Along with placement of units.
The whole system fits in your pocket and WORKS like a CHAMP! So if you have a sample I'll be interested in your trial of the "CozyHoze Boss" ?
..........It even works Well / great @ Home........

It's what I bought it for... I've had it since before I got my machine!

I set it up, and the extra hose they sent me, and used it to get the Dachshund Duo used to this weird new sleeping method their Missy came up with!

When I brought the machine and the mask home, they weren't even concerned... I'd been afraid they'd chew on the mask, or the hose, or something.

I like Hozer!

(But like with a mask, I'm always ready to find something better!)

I checked it out and it appears to be something I would be interested in but to tell you the truth it is more than I would want to spend on something I might or might not like. Are there better deals out there?

Cpap.com, unsurprisingly, has the best price.

I tried about an hour ago to purchase the Cozy Hoze Boss from Pur-Sleep, but they declined my purchase without an explanation. I was making the purchase with my credit card which is far from maxed out and accepted by businesses everywhere without question.

The website said I could email their customer service (link provided) for further assistance which I did. So far no reply. Maybe they're only promotional and they're out of them?

I take it the CozyHoze and Snuggle Hose covers are both fleece hose covers. This site sells the latter for $15.
I need to check out the Hozer. I don't know about you, but that used to be a slang word used to make fun of Canadians. For fans of Bob and Doug McKenzie: "Hey you hosers"

I am interested but I am going to wait until a few people here have tried them out. I like lots of feedback. I am especially interested in how long the spring lasts under constant use. ( I got the impresson these were spring loaded like retractable keychains) I am a mover so I know they would get LOTS of wear! Does anyone know yet how long they might last?

oops, this post of mine was meant to be about the new product pur-sleep has out now. I know the hozer isn't spring loaded. Sorry

No, not a spring... it's a flexible rod, a bit like a radio antenna on a car. It screws apart into three pieces -- and if you don't need it as long as the three pieces, you can use only two.

It's a new product. so the longevity is not yet proven. All I can tell you is that I've used mine nightly for more than three months, and so far, it's doing well.

It has, as I said in my review, one drawback, and that's that the clip at the end isn't designed for going around a hose with a fleece cover on it. But a slim piece of velcro did the trick. (Hey, show me the piece of CPAP equipment that hasn't been lab-ratted by people here...? I suppose you could also use a tights-leg... )

I'll let you know how it holds up. So far it's survived having a 35 pound dachshund lie on it...

Wondered why I waited so long myself, after having tried hose management.Often brought up on the boards.

Wanted the Hozer but opted for the $24.95 travel model here(it works fine):

(click twice for close up)

Made of hollow aluminum sections with an elastic cord running through to the top,so there is some give.
