A Zero AHI Really IS Possible. :D

Post by CollegeGirl » Tue Apr 10, 2007 7:02 pm

One of our wonderful newbies thought I was pulling her leg when I told her I had a 0 AHI most nights. So I decided to post a pretty typical day for me so you guys can see that - no - I'm not joking. It really does happen. I consider myself very fortunate that, first of all, I happen to be lucky enough to be able to do it physically, and second of all, that I had the support of the wonderful people of this forum to get here (RG especially was instrumental in helping me figure out that I needed to try an auto, the TwilightNP etc)

Good luck to everyone out there!

Yea but your data looks so boring

Just kidding!

I have only had zero nights on 3 different occasions ... guess I have to keep working at it.

Blarg, that happened when I wasn't asleep yet, so it doesn't count!

Roberto, you are absolutely right! I like boring, though.

But yeah, I will admit, it sure takes the suspense out of looking at my data!

But a flow limitation while you're awake means you weren't blowing as much hot air. Somehow I just don't believe it.

This is so encouraging!

My AHI goes between 1.5 and 3 on straight 9 CPAP. I'm still tweaking masks, and expect to receive my Hybrid tomorrow. Next week I may go into Auto mode to see if I can improve even more.

And snores. LOL

CG congratulations on all the work you put into getting your treatment the best it can be for you.

Now to sleep well and enjoy life.

Opps, first do your school work.

Actually thanks for posting the chart. I thought when the pressure increases that an event has already occured. Now I see they can be prevented.

CG,

I have some questions, if you do not mind answering for me.:

What was your reasoning for you minmum pressure setting?

Is the 90% and average pressure always the same value?

I decided on my minimum pressure setting because I'm one of those weird people that feels starved for air at anything below 10. Yes, I know, I'm bizarre. I'm a classically trained opera singer - I often wonder if that has anything to do with it. I was also seeing a few events at 9. I basically used the auto function to narrow down what area my lower pressure needed to be in, and kept changing (once a week) til I got it right. I left 20 wide open because, as you can see, the auto just doesn't go up high very often. When it does go to 15 (which happens maybe once a month, if that) I figure I probably need it.

Now, as to average and 90% pressure - 90% pressure just means that it stayed at or below 12 for 90% of the night. My average pressure was 11.3. They're two different numbers, though I can see how they would be the same for some people. I don't know if I just answered your question or not. I hope so.

funny your auto titrating machine is ramping you up to 11-12 with zeros accross the board at lower pressures. Why are you being increased higher for 0 events? Something is not right with the numbers.

Gerald,
My minimum is set at 11. It's not "ramping me up" anywhere. Personally, regardless of how it technically works, it's working just fine for me. I'm not about to argue with a 0.0 AHI and 100% improvement in how I feel.
