Fl, what does it mean

Post by Thumper1947 » Mon Jan 18, 2021 11:09 am

On the statistics page in Oscar, Under "Changes to Machine settings," one of the listed categories with a vertical list is "Fl." I assume this is flow, but what does it mean and how do you use use it? Thanks.

Average of flow limitation numbers for the period of time the machine was used at whatever settings that line is reporting.
I am unsure of just how accurate it might be. I just checked mine...14 settings changes going back to 2017 and multiple machine changes as well and mine all shows 0.00.

Philips Respironics machines report flow limits as events, so a flow limit index is calculated and displayed here.

ResMed machines report flow limits as a graph so no index is calculated. FL is always zero for ResMed machines.

Thank you for the clarification. Since I don't have Respironics data now in my software...only ResMed...no wonder it is always 0.0.

yup. glad for the "explain" too. now that i'm using my resperonics backup, the ONLY event i see is flow limit, even though it doesn't seem to count against my ahi.

weird.
people say i'm self absorbed.

Flow limitations have never been included in the AHI.
Part of the reason we tell people that AHI numbers aren't be all end all measurement to be looking at.
We can have an AHI of 0.0 and still have a truckload of FLs and have our sleep messed with and feel like crap.
