Searching people with BCI 3303 or 3301 or similar Oxymeter.
I bought for my mother BCI 3303 and its working but I seems cant find the ability to add the date and time in a case I want to print out the memory.
The second thing is that I cant find a way to read the data form the com port.
Or I don't know the key sequence to enable serial mode or I don't know terminal commands to force the device to start communicating.
I found out service manual for BCI 3301 but I cant find exact info.
here is the service manual
http://www.mediafire.com/file/99cd4pwp9bbc73y/test.pdf
If any one have service manual for 3303 it would be great and if you know how to access the memory data it would be also great.
I tried with putty with serial connect
Baud rate 9600
Data bits 8
Stop bits 1
Parity none
Data Format: 9600 baud, 1 start bit, 8 data
bits, 1 stop bit, no parity
I/O Connector: Standard DB-9
I see in service manual that Data Type should be ASCII I don't see in putty option to set ascii type but maybe its a default. I made db9 serial cable with straight 9 wires one on one.
Thanks for the help in advance.

The BCI/Smiths 3339 cable referenced in your link is probably a null modem cable. This BCI oximeter seems very similar and uses a standard null modem cable (Catalog No. 3339) on page 8-1: http://www.woodleyequipment.com/clinica ... Manual.pdfloopdemack wrote:I see in service manual that Data Type should be ASCII I don't see in putty option to set ascii type but maybe its a default. The literature seems to suggest that the printer/DTE/PuTTY should spit something out every 30 seconds automatically if connected.

That is the Home Use Manual, i.e. basic operation.xxyzx wrote:http://nbninfusions.com/wp-content/uplo ... Manual.pdf
does not mention anything about downloading data to a computer
See page 2 of this brochure under AUXILIARY SERIAL PRINTER/COMPUTER OUTPUT: http://www.sepems.com/wp-content/upload ... chure1.pdf

Also I don't know how to switch device into the sleep mode to be able to record the data every 4 second, because 30 seconds by the default is too much.
Also in the manual they suggest using RS-232 null modem cable, is it the option with "Null modem without handshaking", "Null modem with handshaking" or "Null modem with partial handshaking"?
In the manual you refereed this BCI device has clear printout button which is missing on the BCI 3303, maybe I need to press some special combination of buttons.

Okay, as a disclaimer, I'll say I don't have one of these and I'm just going by the documents I've seen. If someone else has practical experience with a BCI oximeter, I invite them to chime in.
Also, I apologize in advance that I don't know how technical knowledge you have. Since you built your own DB9 F/F cable, I'll assume some.
Hey, good luck!

Brochure says it needs "commercial available sleep software" to do that... don't know.loopdemack wrote:Also I don't know how to switch device into the sleep mode to be able to record the data every 4 second, because 30 seconds by the default is too much.
An excellent question, and since the manual references CTS on page 9-4, it may need at least loopback handshaking. Do you have a RS-232 breakout tester or a multimeter to probe the pins? Can you modify your straight-through serial cable and experiment? (An official BCI 3339 cable seems to retail for $53 or so. )loopdemack wrote:Also in the manual they suggest using RS-232 null modem cable, is it the option with "Null modem without handshaking", "Null modem with handshaking" or "Null modem with partial handshaking"?
The manual in your original post on page 4-4 has a sequence of steps that should at least print out "****" if the cable is right (and the 3303 is like the 3301).loopdemack wrote:In the manual you refereed this BCI device has clear printout button which is missing on the BCI 3303, maybe I need to press some special combination of buttons.

Hey, good luck!

Give me idea what to probe with the multimeter on pins.
I will experiment.
