Let's look at the other side. Untreated sleep apnea can destroy your heart. So, use your CPAP.

The Risks of a Heart MRI. There are no risks for an MRI and few, if any, side effects. The test does not use radiation, and to date, there have been no documented side effects from the radio and magnetic waves it uses. Allergic reactions to the dye are rare. Jan 11, 2016

I have never personally known anyone who has had a heart MRI, but I'm sure they've been doing them for some time. Whether you are assigned a cpap for what ails you depends on what the problem is and the goal that can be achieved. For instance, if you have bradycardia, a cpap can increase your oxygenation, maybe not to normal levels, but sufficient. For someone with chronic heart failure, cpap may not be enough and you will need oxygen in addition or instead of cpap. Once you get beyond just apnea (I know, nothing is truly simple), it's a complex system to determine what is best for the patient.

I have had a cardiac MRI done. There is no pain involved, and no real risk, you may just feel a bit uncomfortable if you are claustrophobic. You basically listen to a computer voice telling you to breathe, hold your breath, and other instructions. It takes a while.

CPAP and BPAP can definitely help your heart, or from another perspective, can help prevent (further) damage from occurring. Think about what a lower heart rate, and a higher oxygen saturation, is doing for your heart and all the other parts of the human body. Think about what better sleep does for you. If you are having arousals all night and gasping in your sleep, imagine the stress that causes your heart and the rest of your body. Night after night. Now combine that effect with other ailments you may have.

These are just generalities though, it depends on the specific person and what ailments they have. For some, BPAP would be ordered instead of just CPAP. Some need ASV, some need non-invasive ventilation. Anything that improves your work of breathing should be beneficial to your heart, given the relationship between the heart and lungs.

wouldnt wish this test on anyone. serious business

just wanna add that they did inject several medicines, i didnt expect the mri to be rough to start off, and when i finished i did get a charlie horse for about 30 seconds.

I had a cardiac MRI. Just had to listen to instructions and hold my breath when asked to. Not hard at all

A heart MRI is an alternative to a myocardial perfusion where a nuclear dye is injected into your bloodstream. The MRI is non-invasive as opposed to the MP but the MP tends to give more detailed results for coronary blockages. You can also have an echocardiogram

I have had two different MRI's--one on my spine, and one on my breasts.
The noise and narrow space is not a problem for me.
The biggest downside for me is the nearly complete absense of padding.
Who builds these things? Have they never heard of foam?

The patient brings the padding with them, some of us more than others. One less thing to clean up. I can't do MRI's too much metal in me... Jim

One heart MRI, numerous echocardiograms. That's what you get with complex apnea and Cheyne-Stokes breathing.
Didn't have any issues or pain for any of it.
