Cholesterol - you really need to get it up
Re: Cholesterol - you really need to get it up
Based on this recent study, my doctor cut my statin in half. She hinted after next blood test I would no longer be taking a statin.

That was a very interesting article. I refused to take statins (there is no evidence that they help women at all). I've read a lot recently that high blood sugar is more likely responsible for setting the stage for many heart attacks. I will just assume that it is multicausal.

The only valid study for high blood pressure is from the MRC study. https://drmalcolmkendrick.org/SewTired wrote:That was a very interesting article. At the link provided in "Presser's" post, there are links to two books written by Dr. Kendrick. I have not read "The Great Cholesterol Con", but have read "Doctoring Data". If you want to read a funny, and educational book, I highly recommend Doctoring Data. It dives deep into how "studies" can be spun to mean about anything that the funders of a study want the study to mean. It will make you think twice everytime there is a news release saying anything about how great the benefits were of a drug in study "X". Even though it goes deep into math, it is very readable, and Dr. Kendrick has a sharp wit that is at times very funny.Pesser wrote:The only valid study for high blood pressure is from the MRC study. https://drmalcolmkendrick.org/SewTired wrote:That was a very interesting article.
