Wife Says My Mask Has Been Leaking a Lot - Question

Post by JCWarrior » Tue Dec 01, 2015 6:56 pm

My wife says my mask has been leaking a lot. When I look on SleepyHead, I don't see any major issues.

Can someone please remind me what to look for again so I can be certain?

Thank you.

If your AHI is increasing and/or the leak graph shows a problem. Could you be mouth breathing?

My AHI has averaged .09 over the last 7 days. yearly average is .18. Most recent was .28.
Not sure how legible this pic is. She said it was around 4:30 or 5:00 this morning when she noticed it.

Is it possible that she was sleeping more lightly than usual and mistook some hissing (vent, or cushion micro leaks) for something more serious? In any case, one night is not enough to base anything on...

Yeah, I suspect this is the case more often than not. She says she's been noticing it more recently. I have as well a bit but I've been sleeping kind of restless the last few weeks.

Whenever my husband says I'm hissing, I tell him to put his hand over by my mask and find out if it's coming out around the mask, or if it could be just the vent blowing against the covers - maybe since it's colder, you're pulling the covers up around your head?

JCWarrier,
When I use my regular FFM I sometimes have trouble getting a seal. I think it's due to the large seal area of the FFM. When this happens I switch to my RespCARE Hybrid FFM. Much easier to get it to seal. It's a combination nasal pillow & mouth seal mask. Has a considerably smaller area that has to seal. Might want to take alook at it to see what you think.

Cheers,
otrpu
