Sleepy head software import from PR BT module
Any one can please suggest a procedure for importing the data from a Philips respironics Bluetooth module into the sleepyhead software.
Re: Sleepy head software import from PR BT module
I didn't know there was a bluetooth module. Are you talking about the cell modum used for compliance to the DME?

No, actually Phillips does sell a Bluetooth modem which plugs into the back of the Respironics unit. I have one and use it to upload to "SleepMapper" through an iPhone App. Though it works (kind of hit or miss) for the iPhone App, the developer of SleepyHead specifically states that he has not worked out Bluetooth connectivity yet. There is also a cellular modem which is used by the DME to upload compliance information independently of the Bluetooth modem, but the two cannot be used at the same time.... you use one or the other, but not both (unless you take out one and insert the other).OkyDoky wrote:I didn't know there was a bluetooth module. Learned something new again. So is it only good for Sleepmapper? I didn't get much info there and stopped using Sleepmapper.

Re: Sleepy head software import from PR BT module
sorry for the confusion.
I am using the Philips Respironics bluetooth module with my PRS1 sleep apnea equipment.
This device communicates to sleepmapper app on my iphone and i think the data it is showing is very less. To have a detailed view at the data i want to import this into sleepyhead software on a windows 7 laptop. I tried to discover this bluetooth module (shown as "PR BT 398D") on my laptop but windows can not install the bluetooth driver to communicate with it. So, i am wondering if there is a way to communicate and download the data through this BT module to my laptop/ sleepy head software.
thanks for your help.

the question would be, is the full data even available over bluetooth, or only the summary data that you can view with sleepmapper....CPAPER Paul wrote:No, actually Phillips does sell a Bluetooth modem which plugs into the back of the Respironics unit. here's something that will work with sleepyhead and your windows 7... you'll have to buy a wifi sd card.azad78 wrote:sorry for the confusion.

Re: Sleepy head software import from PR BT module
The Cellular modem is used by the DME to upload compliance information directly for THEM and for THEIR purposes. Since many patients don't know about Bluetooth or WiFi or even care about it, this makes it easy for the DME to tell if the machine is being used and to what extent. The Cellular modem supplied by the DME and is owned by them and usually has to be returned to them after the 90 day trial period. It is connected to a server which they use to see machine use.azad78 wrote:@ CPAPER Paul

I had one and after 90 days the DME asked me to return it to them so that they could use it for another customer. Basically, the Cellular modem is used only by the DME and you cannot use it for your own purposes.
The good news is that all the information you want to know about is kept on a hard drive inside the machine and also is copied onto the SD Card in the machine. You, of course, can get data off of the SC Card very easily (but you will have to temporarily remove the Cellular modem to access it).
If you remove or try to use the Cellular modem for some other purpose, the DME will not be happy unless you can provide them with the compliance information in some other way.... (e.g. SleepMapper, SD Card, software programs like SleepyHead, or Encore, etc. which can download information from the machine ) Remember that under most insurance scenarios you don't own the machine and are merely renting it from the DME for a period of time.
You could remove the Cellular modem if you wish in order to remove the SD Card for SleepyHead, but you would have to be sure and put it back after you did that so that it can upload the next day....
In summary, the Cellular modem is all about the DME and insurance reimbursement- not the patient
Hope this helps,
Paul
