I am curious about the name. Gramps has a cousin who played (mostly sat on the bench) football with Piccolo at WFU.bryansong wrote:bryansong

I do remember the movie if only just barely. Wasn't Brian Piccolo friends with Gail Sayers? The Bears!
Is that where the name came from?
How I got this name is first off my name is Bryan and I am a singer. A co-worker suggested it, I liked it so I adopted it.
I live in Independence, Mo. so I'm a Chiefs fan.

It's an interesting story - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_Piccolo
I especially like the anecdote about Darryl Hill and Piccolo.
Ah, the Chiefs. I was a fan back in their AFL days and early NFL days - before you were born. I even remember when they were in Dallas.

I'd never read the Darrel Hill story before, Brian showed a lot of love with his embrace. Thank you for sharing that with me.
I was born in 1955 so I was too young to remember the Dallas Texans but I do remember the AFL and the move to Kansas City.
It was my grandfathers backyard football games with the family in the mid 1960s that really got me interested. I've loved football ever since.

Maybe you know a similar story about Pee Wee Reese/Jackie Robinson. It might have been Brian's inspiration.bryansong wrote:I'd never read the Darrel Hill story before, Brian showed a lot of love with his embrace.

Wow, you are a wealth of information.
No, I didn't know that but perhaps Brian Piccolo did, or at the least both of their hearts were in the right place.
Thanks again!

I know, not funny to the people suffering with insomnia. My only experience happened when I went cold turkey on medication with sedative properties, unknown to me at the time. Definitely, not fun.

Went to a wedding last weekend for two antennas, the wedding was just OK, but the RECEPTION was FANTASTIC
by the way,
I too suffer with insomnia and have been thinking about going cold turkey from the zolpidem. I don't think it works anymore.

Don't know much about this med except what little I've read, but if you've been on it a while and take it regularly, I'd think twice about going cold turkey. I had a bad experience going off a med once cold turkey that I should have weaned off of. Left me with a permanent neurological glitch. Not the same med as yours, but it has left me using an abundance of caution going off any med. Do follow whatever recommendations come with the med. Now need someone with a good joke to get this thread back on track.bryansong wrote: ...I too suffer with insomnia and have been thinking about going cold turkey from the zolpidem. Re: OT: Daily Funny bone
don't know how many blonds on the forum ... but here goes :
A blonde was driving home after work, and got caught in a really bad hailstorm.
Her car was covered with dents, so the next day she took it to a repair shop.
The shop owner saw that she was a blonde, so he decided to have some fun.
He told her to just go home and blow into the tailpipe really hard,
and all the dents would pop out.
So, the blonde went home, got down on her hands and knees and started blowing into her car's tailpipe.Nothing happened.
She blew a little harder, and still nothing happened. Her roommate, another blonde, came home and said, "What are you doing?"
The first blonde told her how the repairman had instructed her to blow into the tailpipe in order to get the dents to pop out.
Her roommate rolled her eyes and said,
..."HELLLLOOOO!!!You need to roll up the windows."

If you're not part of the solution you're just scumming up the bottom of the beaker!
