Best No leak mask?

Post by gsbuck » Wed Feb 04, 2015 9:39 am

I have 4 different masks as I couldn't make up my mind at first, but have settled on the Airfit F10 cushion mask as the one I like best, but it leaks air! I replaced the cushion, but it still leaks as bad as the old one. Last night I kept changing masks to be able to sleep, but they all leaked air. I tried using the lansinoh (lanolin) , the disposable liners, and a cloth liner from Padacheek and they did not help at all! What do you recommend?

Mask may be too big...have you tried a smaller size?

No because when I first used a "small", the tip of my nose kept touching the other side of the cushion, so all my cushions are size "medium" which did well at that time and was more comfortable.

I have had 3000 different masks and every one had some meadure of leak. I finally chose the one with the lowrst leak level which for me was the Resmed Ultra Mirage size medium. I think its the best I can do and my numbers are great. I dont think there is a perfect mask

Wow, you do have me beat in the number of masks used. I agree that the Ultra Mirage is a good mask. I just hate it when there is a leak and it blows at my eye when trying to fall asleep!
Thanks for your response.

That's a lot og masks!

I've only tried/used one mask - the secret is proper adjustment.

When I have leaks it's because I've dislodged it or I've tighened the straps too tight or too loose.

If I had that happen I wouldn't be using that mask. If I can't fall asleep all bets are off.
No mask should do that and if it does there's something wrong...either wrong size, wrong fitting or simply not a suitable mask for my face.
We can try to modify things to make it work...like using mask liners and trying different sizes but sometimes it simply won't work no matter what we do because it doesn't fit our own particular facial structure.

Unfortunately since everyone's face is different we can't tell you with any certainty that the mask we might use would also fit your face and work for you. Everyone's different.
Now some masks have a history of being more problematic in terms of fitting and leaks but even those masks will have someone who just swears it is the greatest thing since sliced bread. It's just the way it goes when it comes to any mask out there.

Unfortunately with full face masks there is simply more territory involved to get and maintain a good seal. More surface area touching the skin. Makes for a lot of trial and error in an attempt to find one that works well for you as an individual.
We can recommend a mask because it works well for us until we are blue in the face but until you actually try it...no way to know if it will work for you. One man's treasure is another man's trash.

I assume there is some sort of physical problem preventing a trial with one of the nasal masks (cushion or pillows).....those masks have much less surface area involved so getting and maintaining a good seal is easier.
Have you ever tried one?
