To ASV Users: Does your flow Limitation look like mine?

My adapt is the older model which doesn't give me the Flow Limitation graph so can't compare but even when I was using the regular VPAP Auto my FL graphs were no where near as ugly as yours.
Just to make sure...you aren't having any bad allergy or nasal congestion issues that might be fooling the machine are you?

Thanks for looking at my charts pugsy. I am not having any nasal congestion at all. The only symptoms I have is tiredness during the day, which I have been writing off to old age and chronic pain. Maybe I should send a copy of this to my doc?? I was hoping that someone else who has my same ASV would come along and say their's look just like that.

I don't know enough about flow limitation to know what is normal and what is not.

I went to look at mine and it doesn't show that graph. I doubled checked in the preference, under graphs and it is checked but no graph shows up. I'm still new at this so don't know what that means.

Well...here's what my Flow limitation graph looks like.
If my Adapt gave me a FL graph I am sure it would look like this. Pretty boring. From my S9 VPap...mine were never very exciting.

The Respironics ASV machines don't show FLs with the graph like the ResMed machines. Respironics shows FLs in the event graphs as a single even each time it happens and then only in the auto adjusting modes...so people using fixed cpap pressures have FL flags turned off.

Thanks. I usually have between 3 to 8 FL events each night. Is that in the "normal" range?

I have a PRS1 and show 1 event last night.

You might want to reduce the range on your Flow Rate Graph to something like plus or minus 70 so you can actualy see some of what is happening. yours is too compressed for me to see much of anything.

You may want to check with your doc and see about some adjustments.

Lately, I've been getting some mask leaks after I fall asleep, I assume due to my jaw dropping as I relax. I decided to try something new, a soft neck brace I made from some 1'' foam I had. I made a piece that was about 3 1/2 inches tall that wrapped a little more than half-way around my neck and held it in place with one of those stick to itself ace bandages wrapped around the outside of the foam.

The surprising result is depicted below. My Flow Limitations, which I most recently became aware of with the purchase of a new S9, have almost disappeared! This has been a consistent result since I using started using the brace, about 6 days ago. I notice my pressure average, in auto, has dropped and all obstructive apneas and hypopneas have virtually disappeared as well.

I think what is happening here is that the brace is not only keeping my jaw from dropping, but it is also helping to keep my airway open by keeping my head from tipping forward.

I'm not sure the long term implications of this, but it seems, at the very least, I will be able to lower my pressure settings. I wish I could say I felt significantly better, I don't, but then I was feeling pretty good already, with a sub 1.0 AHI. Needless to say, I ordered a real soft cervical collar and should get it tomorrow.

I post this in the hopes it may help someone with their therapy.

I have ordered and received two commercial collars, but my home made one remains my favorite. To date, the result remains consistent with reduced flow limitations and few obstructive apneas.

I think your FL results are normal and are the nature of the beast. I have a VPAP Adapt and my FL charts look like yours even when there are no events. Here is a chart from my VPAP Adapt:



Here is a chart from my prior machine, a VPAP Auto:



You can see the flow limitations chart for the latter machine is much "tamer" even when there are multiple events going on. IMO, it's the nature of the ASV machine reporting and nothing to worry about.

I've seen a number of vpap adapt flow limitation charts that really looked nasty, even though the night looked good.

I'm not sure it's anything to be to concerned about... but I don't have any actual evidence either way.
