This is where I shipped it to. If anyone has any suggestions it would be appreciated. He hasn't paid the other half for the unit ($125) in a few months.
jargon,

I am sorry you were stiffed but the question I have for you is why did you ship an item to someone who had only paid half of the price. Unfortunately, I don't think you have any recourse.

Use PayPal people, it works, and you stay safer.

Julie,

How does using PayPal help prevent this situation? I didn't see anything applicable on the website that would have protected the OP but perhaps I missed something.

Because PP can go after the bad guys when they default... I've had it happen and they collected for me.

PayPal does a great job of arbitrating disputes. So the buyer should also be OK paying up front. I do it all the time. Much better than credit card companies or banks.

Don't ever ship something until item is paid in full... Amazon won't do that, or other online stores, that's why they like credit cards; the CC company will then deal with a non-paying buyer. PayPal is the safest course to take for those who don't have the ability to take CCs. Consider it a lesson learned the hard way - the school of hard knocks.

I do too but w/CC there is also recourse. In this case it's Seller Beware

When I did not receive a product I used PayPal for, I filed a dispute- won the dispute but was never refunded any money cuz the guy emptied his PayPal account. So there is your PP protection.

yes this can happen

It did to me as well

While Paypal does offer many benefits to the buyer (which can be defeated simply by closing your account. )

The seller does not and should not need much protection

Think of it as a lesson learned (it seems you tried to do a nice thing for someone, sorry it turned out this way)

If he resurfaces I'll recommend he decrease his max pressure to 5

Hrmm... maybe cpaptalk should implement a user rating system. So when things happen like this, people get err... downvoted?

To the original poster of this thread.

You misspelled the forum member's user name in the title of this thread........I fixed it in this post.

It should be:

nfrederick86

And, I'm with the crowd who wonders why you shipped the item(s) to him without receiving full payment.
Everything I've ever purchased from private individuals on the forum (and Ebay) has always been by cashier's check or money order as I have never had or used a PayPal account. I did get "burned" once by the seller claiming they didn't receive the first check and had to send another, but it was a relatively small amount and not worth the effort to try to disprove it.
