AutoStart/Stop not working properly, stopping in middle of

Post by catsemail10 » Sat Aug 16, 2014 10:26 am

Recently a tech came out and while here they changed my AutoStart/Stop on. First night it stopped in tne middle of the night. Next day talked to tech and they said just go into setting by pressing the double check marks, I did that but could not find any information on AutoStart. They were closed by the time I gave up. Last night was worse with the ResMed stopping about every hour itself waking me up because there was no air. My pressure is 17 plus oxygenA new counselor believe me when I said I had an eating disorder, I didnt know what it was. She did research & found this website & showed me. The site made me feel l wasnt alone. Ive been like this from childhood & have faced many questions about my eating, or not eating. I go through stages trying to figure out what I can eat, even foods I like, thoughts of it making me want to gag. I wish I could change. Im obese & have diabetes. Speeches from doctors & counselors to add 1 new food item ... they dont understand how impossible that feels. Would love any advice. Could anyone tell me how to turn the AutoStart off?

The likely reason for your machine to shut off is if you have a leak so large it thinks the mask has been removed. So you will have to work on fixing your leak for your therapy to be effective. More on that later I am sure but suffice to say the machine won't detect events or may not be able to regulate the pressure.

First, You will need to tell us what make & model your mask is - look on the headgear for a label.
And which model machine you have - there should be a name by the power button or a Ref # on the bottom of the machine.

it's called "smartstart" not "autostart".

if you don't see the option after pressing the 'setup' (double checkmark) button, then you'll have to go into the clinical menu to turn it off.

let us know if you don't see smartstart in the setup menu.

First warning, take the water tank out of the humidifier before messing with the machine. You don't want to spill water back into the blower unit and break it.

"SmartStart" can be set into three modes.

Off - off (duhh)
On - on, and the patient can't change the setting
Patient - the patient can turn it on and off.

If smartstart doesn't show up in your "patient mode" settings, you have to get into the secret, doctor's only, "clinician mode" menu.

There are instructions on how to get into the secret clinician menu here. You can get the secret provider manual here.

In the secret clinician's mode menu, you can change all the settings, so don't get stupid and change things willly-nilly, but changing the autostart shouldn't do anything worse than turn off autostart for you. If you can't figure out how to get out of the menu, just push the start button, and it will take you out of the menu.

It's was the SmartStart that I am having trouble with. I have a ResMed Elite and a Mirage Quzttro mask.
I want to thank archangle for the steps to get to the clinical setup. I didn't change anything other than the SmartStart.
Thank you, I'll be able to sleep more than an hour with my machine turning off.

I'm planning on a much better night of sleep!
