Airfit p10 question re bathroom

Post by Guest » Thu Aug 07, 2014 12:55 pm

Hi. I'm new to Cpap world. I just got the Airfit p10, which I really like. Question: I have some urinary problems that require me to get up...do people take the whole mask off or just disconnect the short tube from the hose, then reattach? Thanks!!

You can leave the mask on, just be careful to keep the end of the short hose dry.
Once you are comfortable with removing and replacing the mask, that is generally easier.

Both. Sometimes I pull the mask off so I can rub the "itchies" out, other times if the mask is feeling good I just pop the hose.

I have a Quattro Air which is very easy to get on and off, and the hose is very simple. I have rejected masks that are too difficult to handle half asleep in the dark.

it's easier for me to take it off and put it back on that to detach the short hose from the long one.

Do not try to separate the short hose from the mask. You will break it.

I don't use your mask, but I never take mine off if/when I have to get up at night for the bathroom. I just remove the hose and shut the machine off. Years ago, when I did use a mask with a short hose attached, I'd just disconnect the short hose from the long one. Much easier for me to keep the mask on and just reattach the hose when I'm going back to bed.

for many masks, you're right, even though *I* prefer to take my ffm off and put it back on in those cases, because I dislike the (admittedly slight) stuffyness.

however, the p10 with it's single strap is *so* easy to take off and put on, it really is easier to remove than undoing the hose from the big hose (imo)

Pale rider,

I agree, with the P10 its much easier to remove the mask instead of disconnecting the hose. My hubby uses a FFM (the F10) & he disconnects the hose at the mask. Most FFM's are more work to put back on. The P10 is the lightest mask I've ever used & removal for the bathroom is really easy.

Good Question. This is the mask that the DME I checked out suggested. I had read up on it and saw where it was easy to disconnect and leave the mask on. I was wondering about that. It sounds like it is a personal preference from the responses here. I'll have to try it both ways to see which I prefer - at least when I know I can put the whole mask back on when I'm half asleep properly.

I find this mask so easy to take off and put on so I always take it off for toilet breaks. I agree it give my nose a bit of a rest.

I use this mask too. I go to the bathroom at least 1-2 times an evening for some reason? I disconnect the short hose from the long hose and go to the bathroom with everything on my face and that little hose hanging on my face.

I also prefer removing the P10 completely; especially since the time I was looking for
something on the floor and the end of the hose dragged too close to my just-removed sweaty socks.
