SlimLine tubing
SlimLine tubing
I am new to CPAP therapy, my husband has a ResMed machine and has extra SlimLine tubing, will it work on a Respironics System One machine??
Re: SlimLine tubing
If it is not the heated tubing, it will work.
For current Respironics machines, if you use SlimLine tubing (hoses) there is a setup setting to tell the machine that you are doing so.
The ResMed and Respironics heated tubing are incompatible.
Just curious, why did you ask?

Re: SlimLine tubing
I hate the heated tube that came with mine, so thought if he had the extra hoses i'd use them instead of buying new ones. Just wanted to be sure they would work before I opened up the package.
Re: SlimLine tubing
There are folks on this board that love the heated tubing.
You might consider offering it for sale since they are quite expensive.

Re: SlimLine tubing
I will keep it for when we camp and want to prevent the moisture in the tube.
It just warms the air too much for my liking even set on 1.

Re: SlimLine tubing
If you use the slimline hose be sure and go into the clinical setup menu and change hose diameter to the smaller choice.
The default when the heated hose is used is automatically changed for you but otherwise with a regular hose the default is for 22 mm diameter hose and the slimline hose is much smaller. You don't want to use the 22 mm choice for diameter of the hose with the slimline hose. I think there should be a 15 mm choice available in the clinical setup menu that you can choose to go with slimline hose.

Slim line hose? Tell us more! I don't use the humidifier either, as I can't stand breathing moist air. So, is there another choice in tubing for me?

Not sure which hose you are using now...either the Respironics white Performance hose or the regular gray hose or the heated hose without the heat (it can be done).dinycat wrote:Slim line hose? If it is the regular gray hose...there is a better regular diameter(22 mm) hose called the Respironics White Performance hose..much lighter and more flexible than the generic gray hose. It's been around for years and it's really nice.
There is the ResMed SlimLine hose...15 mm diameter..they say only for use with ResMed S9 machines but since the PR S1 machine have a 15 mm diameter hose setting I suppose it should work with it also.

Respironics also sells this smaller diameter white hose which I assume is similar to their 22 mm white Performance hose except for hose diamater. And this is also 15 mm so all that would be needed is to change the hose diameter setting in the clinical setup menu. The machine won't know otherwise. This one says it can be used with any machine that offers 15 mm diameter use..and that includes ResMed S9.

Be sure to call for pricing..what is shown isn't what the final price is. There is a substantial discount.

What is the advantage of the Slimline tubing?

Re: SlimLine tubing
I have a Respironics 15mm heated tube with my System One 560(got last Nov.). I think that is the only size they make them now. will get a 15mm unheated for summer and keep the 22mm for backup. KillingMe, I like the 15cm because it is lighter and more flexible.
Re: SlimLine tubing
It depends on how old the PR System One machine is.golfingrl wrote:I am new to CPAP therapy, my husband has a ResMed machine and has extra SlimLine tubing, will it work on a Respironics System One machine??
The oldest of the Series 50 System One machines do NOT allow you to change the size of the hose in either the clinical menu or the patient menu. And on those machines, a SlimLine hose cannot be used.
On the newer Series 50 System One machines there is a hose size option in the CLINICAL set up menu. Change it from 22 to 15 and you're good to go with the SlimLine hose. My first BiPAP was made in Dec. 2010 and it DID have this option, as does my current BiPAP which was made in April 2011. (The first one was replaced for warranty issues.)
On the newest Series 60 System One machines allow the patient to change the hose setting in the PATIENT set up menu, if the corresponding setting in the Clinical Menu is set to "Patient." Hubby's brand new Series 60 System One Auto allows him to switch back and forth between a hose size of 22 or 15 from inside the Patient menu. Which is convenient since I've got several SlimLines lying around and I'm the one doing the PAP cleaning for both of us.

A SlimLine tube is a 15mm NON heated tube. It is smaller, lighter, and more flexible than the standard 22mm NON heated tube.KillingMe wrote:What is the advantage of the Slimline tubing?

I love the smaller and lighter tube to the heavier tubing. I went for the grey non-performance 22mm tubing, preferred the color to the white, to start and it was super heavy and pulled the mask away if I moved at night. Then I tried the heated hose and it was the slim tube and liked it but didn't like the additional heat it added. The package the S9 slimline is in says for ResMed use only but it looked like ti was universal so I wanted to be sure before I opened it. I appreciate everyone's quick responses

I have a 5 yr. old Respironics Bi-Pap AutoSV Advanced (not System One). I do not see where it has a setting for the slim tubing. Can I use it or must I stick the the regular size tubing?

The answer to your question is categorically "NO" and "YES".......you cannot use it and you need to stick with the regular tubing.

Product Features
The lightweight and flexible Respironics Pure White Thin 6 Foot Performance CPAP/BiPAP Tubing (15mm) is designed to work with CPAP and BiLevel machines that have a setting option for a 15 mm tubing.
Use a lightweight mask? Use a lightweight hose! This is a highly flexible tubing that is approximately 20% lighter than a standard tubing reducing drag and disruption of the mask seal.
The cuff design lends itself to easy on and off of the hose. The standard 22 mm size cuff fits on all mask connections.
Following industry standards, the hose is 6 foot in length and can be substituted for a 22 mm hose if the machine has a 15 mm setting option.
The white hose has a crisp, clean appearance.
Compatibility
The Respironics Pure White Thin 6 Foot Performance CPAP/BiPAP Tubing (15mm) can be used with any CPAP or BiPAP machine that has a 15 mm option, including:
PR System One 60 Series Auto
Some PR System One Machines (see below for compatibility)
S9 Machines
To check to see if a PR System One Series machine is compatible with a 15 mm hose:
Select the SETUP menu from the machine's home screen.
Under TUBING TYPE there may be two options - 15 or 22.
Select the option 15 to set the machine to use the Respironics Pure White Thin 6 Foot Performance CPAP/BiPAP Tubing (15mm).
If the PR System One Series machine does not offer a TUBING TYPE selection, then the machine is not compatible with a 15mm hose.
To change back to a 22mm hose, follow the same steps, this time selecting the option 22 under TUBING TYPE.
To use a 15mm tubing with an S9 machine:
Select the SETUP menu from the machine's home screen.
Select TUBE and the feature turns amber color.
Select Slimline from the options of Standard and SlimLine to set the machine to use the Respironics Pure White Thin 6 Foot Performance CPAP/BiPAP Tubing (15mm).
Return On Warranty Issues Only
Important Tips
Hose Diameters
The original or 'standard' diameter for a hose used with CPAP therapy is 22mm and can be used with the majority of CPAP, Auto Adjusting and BiLevel or BiPAP machines. Some machines require a 15mm tubing referenced as "Thin" or "SlimLine™" and are designed to work ONLY with a 15mm hose. Other machines allow for the selection of either a 22mm or a 15mm hose. Still other machines use ONLY a heated hose specific to that line of devices and cannot use a non-heated hose of any diameter.
This hose, the Respironics Pure White 6 Foot Performance CPAP/BiPAP Tubing (15mm), is a small diameter size, non-heated hose. It is compatible with machines that can use a 15mm hose. It is not compatible with a machine that can use only a heated hose.
Other Notes
The Respironics Pure White Thin 6 Foot Performance CPAP/BiPAP Tubing (15mm) does not have a pressure sensor line, which allows you to connect certain CPAP/BiPAP machines that measures pressure in the mask. Please select the 6 Foot CPAP Hose for Puritan Bennett 420E, 420S, 425 and Knightstar 330 if you need a universal 6 foot hose with a pressure line.
