Try this... if you've had CPR and/or Rescue Breathing, they teach you to push the forehead back (used to be, "tilt the head back.") to open up the airway for mouth-to-mouth breathing. I use this, "keep your chin up," position to try to open up my airway. I have mixed results but, if you sleep on your back, try using no pillow (or a small pillow under your neck) and keep your chin up (tilt your head back) to open up the airway. I sometimes fold my hands and lay one forearm over my eyes. On your side, you can use a pillow and tilt your head to look towards your headboard. This position should open up the airway. Of course you move around at night and my need to reset your position but, sometimes it seems to work. (oh, this is without headgear.)
Actually, when I take a nap in the afternoon, I lay on my stomach with my chin hanging over the side of the bed. It's usually resting on a wrist. It seems to keep my airway open too. I should pull out my massage table and try sleeping on it. It has a headpiece with a hole in it.
Try it/these and let me know if it/they work(s).
Keep your chin up
Re: Keep your chin up
On the advice of members of this forum I have recently been using a cervical collar to keep my chin up.
For me it has been has been amazing. I sleep on my back and my numbers have dropped significantly. I have about a half a dozen bed pillows and would try to get just the right angle, but now I just use what is comfortable.

Re: Keep your chin up
I had no idea what the neck pillow was for. I will get one.

You can get small, soft ones at pharmacies... he's not the big whiplash ones.
