Vibratory Snore rating on prs1?
Vibratory Snore rating on prs1?
My AHI has been below 2 for every night on my first week of cpap. However, on the loner prs1 I have my "VS" number is higher some nights than others (up to 90 as highest). Some nights my VS value is near zero, but other nights it is 20 or 50 or even 90 once. Can someone explain to me what this value is?

Sometimes when my numbers are crazy like that, I have discovered that my mask is vibrating around the cushion/face when it is leaking.

Re: Vibratory Snore rating on prs1?
The PR System One machines seem to be rather sensitive when it comes to picking up any kind of "vibrations" in the back pressure. Snoring causes these kinds of vibrations, but so can a hose that's rubbing against a sharp edge of a night stand. Or sleeping with a snoring dog (or so says pugsy who has a snoring dog). Or sleeping bumped up against a partner who is snoring.
If you're not particularly sensitive to the pressure, you can try bumping it up modestly. That may work---if the snores are real. And you could try keeping a log to see if the snoring corresponds to anything else going on in your life. For some people a drink or two too close to bedtime may increase the snoring. For others, seasonal allergies aggravate the snoring and they find that with a PAP they've got to be more serious about keeping the allergies well under control.

Re: Vibratory Snore rating on prs1?
Could vibrations in the hose due to rainout make the machine think it is snoring vibrations?

Re: Vibratory Snore rating on prs1?
My guess is YES. The PR machines are really sensitive to vibrations. Do you get a lot of rainout on some nights, but not others? If so, it's well worth tracking "bad rainout" and "snore data" to see if there's a correlation in your data.bavinck wrote:Could vibrations in the hose due to rainout make the machine think it is snoring vibrations?

Re: Vibratory Snore rating on prs1?
I have had some rainout problem and have been flipping between 3 and 4 on the humidifier. Unfortunately, I am doing my home sleep study and do not have access to anymore data until the new year when I get my own machine. I will be getting a s9 autoset, so this may not even be an issue when I start checking the data for that machine. Thanks for the quick response.
