Best pulsoximeter for SleepyHead?
Best pulsoximeter for SleepyHead?
What is the best and most affordable pulse oximeter to import to Sleepyhead? And where you can buy it most easily?

Re: Best pulsoximeter for SleepyHead?
The CMS 50D Plus is probably the most affordable that works with SleepyHead. I got mine from here because Kevin is great help with the software

They can be found a little less expensive from a source in China on EBay

The CMS50F is also very nice. I got it from the same source.

Re: Best pulsoximeter for SleepyHead?
I got the CMS 50i. It was the most expensive but had features I liked. got it from the same source also happy with Kevin.
Unfortunately it does not yet work with Sleepyhead but I hope it will someday. In the mean time the software that comes with it works fine and can be viewed next to sleepyhead to provide adequate info.

Is it just the older version of CMS50F that works with Sleepyhead?

Re: Best pulsoximeter for SleepyHead?
Ok... I'm game.... how does the pulseoximeter "work" with sleepyhead? I looked into it a few years back, but gave up. It looks like the S9 is equipped with a pulseoximeter slot, but I couldn't figure it out. I was thinkin' the pulseoximeter was separate... you wore it on your finger all night, and the nice ones are down-loadable. How does it "fit" with sleepyhead?

Re: Best pulsoximeter for SleepyHead?
Some of the CMS models allow importing of the reports into SleepyHead so that you can compare the graphs...SleepyHead graphs with the pulse ox report graphs. Not all of the overnight recording pulse oximeters are compatible with SleepyHead but their reports are still easily viewed by the pulse ox software. Having SleepyHead graphs right above the pulse ox graphs and the times synced allows for comparing any events shown on the SleepyHead reports to be easily compared to same time frame on the pulse ox reports.Sheriff Buford wrote:how does the pulseoximeter "work" with sleepyhead?

So Pugsy are you actually importing the data into SleepyHead? I noticed that the The CMS 50D does not keep time. Does SleepyHead account for this? I was thinking of making this purchase.Pugsy wrote:Some of the CMS models allow importing of the reports into SleepyHead so that you can compare the graphs...SleepyHead graphs with the pulse ox report graphs. Re: Best pulsoximeter for SleepyHead?
At the risk of being pedantic, it's the 50D Plus, not the 50D you'd want. (The 50D doesn't record.)Bill44133 wrote: So Pugsy are you actually importing the data into SleepyHead? It doesn't keep time. When you load the results into Sleepyhead, Sleepyhead permits you to enter the start time for the oximetry results. Assuming you start both at the same time, you can just pull the start time from the day's details in Sleepyhead and enter them into the oximetry tab.

No, no you are not being pedantic, whatever it means.. Thank You for the correction and the information. I appeciate it.forthguy wrote:At the risk of being pedantic, it's the 50D Plus, not the 50D you'd want. One thing I have learned is that you have to be exact with this stuff or you could end up burned. Or getting the wrong thing.

Re: Best pulsoximeter for SleepyHead?
Papit has put together instructions on how to get the CMS recording pulse oximeter's data into SleepyHead here in the SleepyHead tutorial...just scroll down a few posts.
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=88983&start=15
There is the time issue since the CMS 50DPlus doesn't have a time stamp but with SleepyHead there is a work around if you start the pulse ox at the same time as you start your machine.
OP in this thread wanted the least expensive idea to get the data into SleepyHead. The 50D Plus is the cheapest and it will work.
Maybe not as slick as the others with the fancier features but it works and is the least costly.
I did it once just to see if I could get it done. It's been well over a year and I couldn't begin to remember how I did it.
For my needs having it interface with SleepyHead graphs weren't needed beyond "can I get it done". There was nothing of great excitement going on. I was fine with just looking at the reports that the pulse ox gives with its software. It's more work than I want to do and I don't need to do it...so I don't do it.
Once in a blue moon I might have enough events within a short time that I might desat. Last night was one of those nights.
I don't want to wear something on my finger every night to catch the once in a blue moon night.
Someone wants the "cheapest" that will work...then that's what I point them to. If they want to discuss the various features vs costs of the other models I will let others help in that area and I let Papit help with getting the reports working.
I am not the person to come to for technical help with pulse oximeters beyond my pointing to the choices available.

Re: Best pulsoximeter for SleepyHead?
If anyone is looking for a good oximeter, I recommend the CMS50F (so comfortable!), or at least an E, I don't recommend the D+ so much anymore, as it doesn't have a clock.
Edit: And the D+ requires batteries every couple of days, so may not be the cheapest in the long term. The E doesn't cost much that much more and has an internal rechargable LiION battery.
The new upcoming build of SleepyHead (and current GIT source code for anyone who builds from it) works well with all D+, E and F models.
I'd like to see the difference between the CMS50I models and the others.. I have a feeling they upload the same way as the E & F's, and should work too.
I know the CMS60 series has multiple recording memory slots, and it's not supported yet. I have however seen some reference code from MATLAB, and it's not that hard to support.

Re: Best pulsoximeter for SleepyHead?
Just for clarification. Is it just the older version of CMS50F that works with Sleepyhead? Or does both old AND new works with Sleepyhead? On http://www.pulseoxstore.com they says that the new does NOT work with Sleepyhead. Is it that in the SH 9.3.0 works only the old, but in the next update it works with both new and old?jedimark wrote: The new upcoming build of SleepyHead (and current GIT source code for anyone who builds from it) works well with all D+, E and F models.

Should work with the recent Oximetery changes. 9.3 didn't work properly anyway with the 50F.Lazer1234 wrote:Just for clarification. Is it just the older version of CMS50F that works with Sleepyhead? Re: Best pulsoximeter for SleepyHead?
Jedimark I have the CMS 50i and would love to help any way I can to include its data in Sleepyhead.
The 50i has 7 or 8 recording slots this appears to depend on the volume of data. It may have a different file format than some of the other devices.
I would be happy to email you some data files if that would help. I am computer literate but forgot how to program 30 years ago. My email I wexlerbob at gmail.
Please let me know if I can help.
