bipap, trilogy or diaphragm pacing system

Post by Nannette RC » Tue Sep 24, 2013 10:44 am

I just found this site and I have a question. I just received a message that I passed the sniff test for a diaphragm pacing system. I was diagnosed with ALS in June 2012. I am trying to look at my options. I use my bipap 7-8 hours every night. I don't know whether to have the pacing system put in or would I be better off using the trilogy when breathing becomes more difficult. Has anyone had this decision to make before? What are your thoughts?

Hunt up member "Madalot" and send her a private message. She uses the trilogy and has similar physical issues.

My husband was diagnosed with ALS in May of 2012. Had the pacer put in in October of 2012. Paces nearly all the time. Uses a bipap at night. Is going to get the trilogy too.

Definitely talk to Madalot - she's the resident expert on that stuff (and is extremely nice to know :0).
