Same sizing for the ResMed SoftGel & Activia LT cushions?

Post by StuUnderPressure » Tue Aug 27, 2013 11:51 am

I am currently using the ResMed Mirage SoftGel Nasal Mask with a Large Wide Cushion.

Since the ResMed Mirage Activa LT cushion also fits on the same frame, I am considering also trying it since I would only have to buy the cushion.

If I am using a Large Wide SoftGel cushion, should I also get a Large Wide Activia LT cushion?

I would say yes but have not tried it:

I see the following here:

http://cpap-supplies.directhomemedical. ... va+cushion

DoubleGel Nasal Cushion with Clip for Mirage™ SoftGel & Mirage Activa™ LT CPAP Masks

The DoubleGel cushion comes standard on all Mirage SoftGel CPAP masks. It can also be used as an alternative cushion for all Mirage Activa LT CPAP masks. Each DoubleGel cushion has two layers -- an outer clear gel layer that provides unparalleled softness and comfort, and an inner blue gel layer that adds stability and support.
ResMed : 61631 (Small), 61632 (Medium), 61633 (Large) 61634 (LargeWide)

I did not like the springy action of the Activa when it sits on the nose area.

I really also do not like that action.
I tried the plain Activa quite a while back.

But because I raised my pressure in trying to get rid of Flow Limitations, I now have more leak problems because of the higher pressures.

Am hoping the Acitiva LT will help with those increased leaks without me having to tighten the Headgear too tightly.

Increasing the pressures did NOT help my Flow Limitations at all, so if the Activa LT does not help, I may be going back to my lower pressures anyway.

The ResMed SoftGel, Activa, and Activa LT cushions all fit into the same frame.

I will have to look into that again, but I thought it was just the SoftGel & Activa LT that fit into the same frame.

What exactly is the difference between the Activa & the Activa LT?

I changed to an Activa LT and the venting is much quieter - the headgear is heavier, but not noticeable. The cushion doesn't "bobble" as much, but even though it is smaller, it feels bulky. I prefer it to the regular LT.

I see now that there are two kinds of cushions for this mask body. Double Gel and ActiveCell. So when I mentioned the "springy action" it was the ActiveCell (which I got be mistake as an Activa mask):

and

ActiveCell™ Cushion with Clip for Mirage Activa™ LT and Mirage™ SoftGel Nasal CPAP, $31.00:

ActiveCell Technology accommodates movement during sleep, which results in fewer mask leaks for restless sleepers. The bubble-like membrane surrounding the dual-wall cushion expands and contracts to varying pressures and allows for different sleeping positions during the night. The new ActiveCell membrane is less cumbersome than the original, but still prevents CPAP users from over-tightening the mask headgear to create a secure seal. A looser fitting mask reduces pressure points and prevents red marks.
