Wisp??

hi Tigerlily, my Wisp was also fitted snug on the sides of my nostrils by both the sleep tech and the DME rep. I wondered about that too but I think its supposed to fit that way. I dont have many leaks at all. Mine is the petite.

When I wear the petite, the cushion is very close to the sides of my nose.
Since the petite leaves a red groove across my nose, I wear the s/m most of the time.
More comfy, but I still have a temporary spare.
I have not needed a mask liner or strap covers.
I like the sticky silicone on my cheeks--it keeps the wisp more stable.
I don't really mind the little dents that happen when I sleep really well.

So far for me the more I use the Wisp the better it seals. I measure for the S/M but the large works better for me and is more comfortable.

Thanks ladies. Seems like a personal preference issue as long as I can breathe.

I think I will try the large again for comparison before I decide what size liner to purchase.

I know what you mean about the numbers. I have had my 4 best numbers out of 6 nights of use that I've had in my 6 months of therapy....excited!

So, I just checked my sleepyhead and I had an AHI of .68 - WHOA!!! .68! I thought those numbers were only for other people....lol!

Does the redness come from sensitivity to silicone? I have sensitive skin too. I thought it was from pressure from the mask, but I only have it tight enough that it won't leak and it doesn't feel very tight, but I still wake up with a bright red mark on my nose that doesn't completely go away.

I'll order the pad-a-cheek liner for it today, in the light blue.

My skin is very sensitive and I too do not have it too tight. When I was at the sleep lab trying on a couple of different nasal masks for just a few minutes and I had red marks. I wash my face very well before putting on my mask. I had some allergy testing done recently and it appears that I may be allergic to something in my perspiration. So the silicon on my face may cause some perspiration ? Just a thought. Anyhow I'm glad the pad a cheek liner works for me.

Well, I have used the liner (for the small/medium) and the strap covers for 2 nights now. I love the strap covers. They help with comfort and eliminate marks.

The liner...it doesn't help with the red mark & indentation on the bridge of my nose at all. As a matter of fact, it almost seems more red than it did on some nights without it. I am really disappointed. I feel like nothing will eliminate the problem for me. I have the top straps almost as loose as they can be without causing leaks.

I only have a couple of days to decide if I am going to keep the wisp or not or send it back with the free 30 day insurance.
I like the mask, my numbers are the best I've had since starting cpap and I don't have trouble with leaks. I even mouth breathe much less with this mask vs. tap pap.

Which brand liner did you try? I bought the padacheek one but it gave me a frightening feeling of being afraid I would inhale the cloth into my nostrils while sleeping and suffocate, so I stopped using it and put it in the drawer of experiments that didn't work out.

Yes, mine is the pad-a-cheek liner. I cut the hole bigger, as it was too small. It just isn't helping with the redness and that is my only complaint about this mask. I'm pretty discouraged right now.

This should eliminate nearly all lint, but . . .
I find them a bit too thick for something as small as the wisp.
A well-washed old cotton t-shirt might be a more agreeable consistency, and who knows (?),
you may be sensitive to polyester, or something in it (from the manufacturing process)
Some of us have more sensitive skin than others.

Hi CF -It seems pretty thin. I think it's made out of the same material as the cheek pads and they don't bother me.

I could try that tonight, I do have Lansinoh. I tried it twice with nasal pillows to try to improve the seal, but it made it worse actually, so I stopped using it.

Wish we could all get together in a room to compare notes on masks. I found that the Wisp, on my face shape, rests with more pressure just above my upper lip, and very very little pressure on my nose at all. I do pull the lower straps down in the back of my head to a point just above the base of the skull.

Maybe this mask just isnt right for your face shape?

That's the case with all masks. That's why some people love a particular mask and others can't use it.

The problem is that my insurance isn't paying for any of these masks...I am.

If this one doesn't work for me, does that mean all nasal masks won't? Because they all rest on the nose. I have tried 2 different ones and they both left marks.

There are reasons I don't want to go with pillows and the FFM I tried was horrendous on me.
