Re: Sleep Apnea is it the leading cause of failure to read Posts
Some people just skip over reading ...
Others can spell, but just can't type ... So maybe it is practice session ...
All kidding aside ... Getting a direct personal question answered from the friendly folks here, help the sleep depraved adjust better!
Same thing happens on the cast boolits forum (can I use ______ to cast with? what kinda of lube? What size _____? What powder?)
Alternative power (Will these batteries _______? Do I need a tracker? What angle should my panels be?)
Survival sites (What is the best freeze dried foods? What do i need to carry in my bug out bag? Best _____ gun? How do I store rice? Best way to store gas?)
4X4 sites (What is the best tire for _____? Best lift kit? How much lift? Best lights, winch, tow strap?)
And it goes on and on ... One thing is it keeps the forum fresh, and gives the newer members the ability to share their experience ... And HELP OTHERS!

Searching is easiest when one has vocabulary and spelling skills equal to the task.
Just try finding an answer when you don't know the key word; or "auto-complete" changes it to something else.
I keep turning it off; but it keeps coming back!
I wonder what Google's real purpose is--a profit-driven information filter? Well, yes, it is!

There is a degree of comfort (or exasperation, depending on how much sleep I've had) in knowing that at least once a week a new post will appear from someone traveling with cpap by air for the first time, who is not bright enough to use the search function...
I worry more that they are mentally capable of navigating an airport and getting on the right plane...

It could be worse. They could be working for the TSA.

That one stumped me for a few minutes! boolits = Bullets, or in the case of us old fogies, musket balls. This forum's search engine leaves a lot to be desired, it's the fault of imature software. Spelling is my own personal Damon. This Android has auto correct, sometimes it helps somestimes it don't, if you don't proof read it gets weird. My problem is with my spelling, i'm not close enough for it to find the correct word..... That's what wives are for. Jimknightlite wrote:123.Shawn T.W. wrote:

Actually the difference between a boolit and a bullet is the boolit is a home cast projectile from a hot lead alloy ... A bullet is a commercially made copper (usually) clad jacketed projectile.Goofproof wrote:That one stumped me for a few minutes! boolits = Bullets, or in the case of us old fogies, musket balls. Along a similar line of thought: The announcements (ie. stickies) at the top of the page are now six topics. I think this is a great section, however I would advise the Goodman's, our forum hosts, not to let it grow significantly larger in number, mainly because it's just going to get overwhelming for CPAP newbies. Somebody who is sleep deprived is probably not going to be willing to wade thru reams of data, whether its helpful or not. Just an opinion. It's simply a lot easier to type in a question, which may or may not overburden the site, (Not being the site administrator, I'm not in a position to judge that)
As a side note: With a sticky you typically just get one position, however with a new thread many different opinions and solutions have the potential to get aired.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.
Re: Sleep Apnea is it the leading cause of failure to read Posts
This is typical forum usage...I've been on quite a few forums for many years now, and there are basically two kinds of people that use them. People that read and search before they post (and may or may not find previous answers to the their questions), and people that may look at the current top few question thread titles, but essentially just blindly post their questions.
Personally, I'm fine with either approach, about the only thing that bothers me are people that ask the same question over and over again. But that one could well be attributed to sleep problems *smile*. The other thing are the people that insert little political comments into everything, but that's just a personal thing on my part (the one person on my "foe" list is there for that reason).

I am just grateful that there are plenty of kind, patient and generous members here willing to keep posting the answers.
I have been on this forum for a couple months and there is a steep learning curve for the uninitiated.

I have cast a little lead in my youth, as fishing line weights, never shot them. I have shot many Bullets, but no boolits. Now days I just shoot the Bull! I have 3000 Bullets and shells, ready for the zombie war, just in case, or for when we have to secure our freedom AGAIN!123.Shawn T.W. wrote:Actually the difference between a boolit and a bullet is the boolit is a home cast projectile from a hot lead alloy ... Boolits.....every hobby has its jargon. "Boolits" is one of ours. To the uninitiated, it is a misspelling; to those who cast their own, it describes what they are making.
I wonder how long it has been in use. I have the sense that it is a fairly new affectation. When I was shooting postal matches some years ago with the Cast Bullet Association, no one used the term boolit unless they were a poor speller.
Even today...http://www.castbulletassoc.org/forum/

What about all the people here who get their jollies by replying to posts?
Answering "What's a brick?" for the threethousandth time gives them a sense of satisfaction and lowers their blood pressure. People have an innate desire to help others (as long as it isn't inconvenient).
Don't overlook this important benefit of the forum.

Because it is not OT. Sleep deprivation does a number on ones logical faculties and on ones patience.
In any learning space/situation any question that gets asked usually has several people waiting for the answer, too shy or embarrassed to ask it. That is why people say "Newbie dumb question" they are already feeling scared and stomp on themselves before anyone else can.
