Raining and windy here. No one anywhere near my age going out tonight.

Have a good evening!

It seems the Russians have learned from their 20 million dead and starving masses and are eager to embrace capitalism.....just as America steps on the gas pedal towards communism and socialism.

Mitt Romney, the man who defeated himself
He managed to offend Russia by calling Russia the United States' biggest geopolitcal adversary, creating an adversary that only exists in his little fascist Cold War mindset.

I would find it hard to believe that a single retiree or soon to be retiree would vote for Romney. His voucher plan to replace Medicare sounded like a sure road to hell for seniors that would strip them of all the benefits they have earned after a lifetime of hard work.

The same could be said of his dubious plans for the "future" of Social Security, which would likely end up being non-existent after privatization.

His stated prime objective was to get rid of what he calls, "Obamacare," replacing it with a big nothing and diverting the funds for social safety net programs into the already inflated, gigantic, bloated, gluttonous military budget, which is the largest in the world.

His efforts to blame the national debt on Obama were ridiculous and laughable. Only a moron would believe that nonsense. Obama inherited a crisis, a disaster, a country deep in recession, never having seen anything worse than since than the depression of 1929. That is something not overcome in only 4 years.

CORRECTION, ButtermilkBuoy:

Obama reiterates call for farm subsidy cuts
WASHINGTON | Mon Feb 13, 2012 1:58pm EST
(Reuters) - President Barack Obama proposed slashing subsidies to the booming agriculture sector by $32 billion over the next decade, just as Congress begins the lengthy process of overhauling the expiring U.S. farm law.

For the third year running, Obama proposed sweeping cuts to the U.S. Department of Agriculture in his annual budget. Congress, however, has yet to come to an agreement on how to reform the massive subsidies to the sector.

Obama's plan includes eliminating the $5 billion a year in direct payment to farmers that is disbursed regardless of need, an idea that has some support among U.S. lawmakers.

"In a period of severe fiscal restraint, the payments are no longer defensible," said the administration, referring to the direct payments.

The plan to cut some $32 billion over 10 years for farm support is far larger than the $23 billion agreed by Agriculture Committee leaders in Congress last fall during deficit-reduction talks.

Last year, Obama made a similar call for cuts, saying payments to the wealthiest farmers should be eliminated along with reductions in direct payments.

Budget cuts have squeezed the Agriculture Department's reporting of crop production over the past couple of years but the White House proposed steady funding, $109 million, for its forecasting arm in the coming fiscal year.

Obama said USDA should cut some 2 million acres from the long-term Conservation Reserve, which holds farmland out of production. Crop insurance subsidies would be cut by $7.6 billion through 2022. A disaster-relief fund, scheduled to expire this year, would remain.

Farm groups are divided on the shape of the new farm law. The Senate Agriculture Committee opens the farm bill process with a hearing on Wednesday. Analysts say there is a 50-50 chance, at best, that Congress will enact a farm law this year, given election-year and deficit-reduction pressures.

The White House won little support among farm groups and lawmakers when it proposed a similar package of cuts last fall. Two farm lobbyists said the new package would be ignored too. Agriculture Committee leaders seem set on $23 billion in farm subsidy cuts.

There is broad agreement the direct payment will not be renewed. It is paid to landowners based on historical production of grain, cotton and soybeans. Farm income hit a record high in 2011, making the payments harder to justify.

While the White House suggested a cap of 30 million acres for the Conservation Reserve, some proposals call for a ceiling of 25 million or 26 million acres.

Somr other things to consider ... well, a couple of other things to consider:

Given the drought this year and the ethanol subsidies for corn .... is this the year to finally cut farm subsidies?? I've never been in favor of farm subsidies to agri-business

I'm reading of farmers being forced to sell their land dues to high taxes and land values increasing so much in some areas. Speculators buy the land, then the farmers rent it back from them and continue to farm the land all the while its sits prior to someone buying it up for development. Usually the farmer can rent it back cheaper than paying the taxes and maintaining it. Plus they have all that money from the sale of the land.

We have a neighbor who rents out 10 of his 20 acres to a local farmer for 1/3 the crop profit each year. The farmer alternates corn and soy beans. Another 5 of his 20 acres is well wooded and he gets a nice buck each year during bow deer hunting season and again during rifle and black powder seasons. His house and barns sit on the other 5 acres and he rents storage space in the two barns for boats, trailers, RVs, cars, etc.

2.3% on all medical devices. As a newly minted CPAP user, one with a very high deductible who will be paying all of that 2.3% and more, I am not happy about the survival of Obamacare, either. 300+ posts about Obama and this is the only one I saw that talks about the tax that directly and negatively impacts this community.

Already there are prominent Democrats calling for repeal of this provision. They didn't say anything about how they were going to make up for the lost tax revenue, though. Promises, promises. They're expensive.

Funny how every job lost in America is now blamed on Obamacare by the same people who brought us George W. Bush and the worst eight years of job growth since WW2 and the greatest economic disaster since the great depression, but it's all because of Obamacare - which hasn't even kicked in yet
