Hi Everybody!
I've been using CPAP for a little over a month. What a difference! I have a couple of questions:
I'm using the Swift nasal pillows. Is it normal to feel some soreness in my nostrils? I'm using a heated humidifier so I don't think it's related to dryness. Am I adjusting the nose piece or headgear wrong?
Also, does anyone know how long CPAP therapy has been around? It seems like hear something about sleep labs or apnea care businesses in the media constantly.

Congrats on your new treatment regimen for OSA!
I too use the Swift and have nothing but praise for it. It accomplishes everything I want. Regarding the irritation in your nares, you may be over-tightening the headgear straps. I find that the pillows seal up well with only a very loose fit, so you may want to try loosening up your headgear straps just enough to maintain a seal.
Re: the history of CPAP, I belive that Dr. Sullivan first discovered it in Australia in the early 1980s, but it has reached prominence only within the last five years, probably in large part because of Reggie White's untimely death.
Good luck!
