My thanks to all of you

Last December I had my first sleep study, which confirmed that I had OSP.

The solution offered was CPAP, but I was not enamored with the idea of becoming a lifelong hosehead.

So, I did the research on the various surgical options - and quickly learned that surgery for this condition is not appropriate (i.e., the chance of a positive outcome is not high).

Therefore, back to CPAP research...which led me here a couple of months ago.

Well, I learned a ton, and had a titration study done last Friday. The follow-up with my sleep doctor was yesterday afternoon, and I was glad that I had soaked-up everything that I had read here.

He wanted to prescribe standard CPAP - I wanted APAP. After a short debate, he ended-up agreeing to prescribe exactly what I wanted (RemStar Auto with C-Flex).

Prescription faxed to DME late yesterday. I've also read all of the horror stories about DME's, so I'm ready if they try to give me any grief.

I am sitting here debating whether or not to also contact billmyinsurance and seeing what the deal is that way. I have BCBS, and they say that no internet DME is on the preferred provider list.

Anywho, a BIG THANK-YOU to all of you who post here. I am very grateful for the information that you have shared - it helped me immensely!

I received a similar response from BC/BS but when I bought from cpap.com they paid 100%, although they'd earlier said they would only pay 60%. As I understand things, if you submit the bill yourself, then you are the provider and get in-network rates. Of course, there are bad stories the other way also, so I think it really just depends on how the person handling the claim happens to feel the day your claim shows up.

Regards,
Bill

If you call BillMyInsurance they can find out if they are considered "in network" for your version of BCBS. This is a free service and takes a day or less to determine so you've got nothing to lose and a lot to gain.

PJ,

Give billmyinsurance a call. I called them when I was switching to an APAP. They knew right away that my insurance wouldn't work with them and let me know. It was so nice having a person who was so honest and above-board.

First, now that I have my log-in problem solved, the OP is me.

I also contacted billmyinsurance.com; they contacted BCBS, and have now just emailed me to tell me that I'm fully covered. Excellent <rubs hands gleefully>.

Now, why is it when I call BCBS, they tell me there is no in-network DME?
Maybe billmyinsurance.com has another "brick-and-mortar" name that is an in-network provider?
