What is the "provider" manual for Remstar called?

Post by oneantonee » Thu Apr 13, 2006 12:19 am

I want to ask my DME for the manual that normally comes with the machines, so that I will have the "provider" manual. I am going to get the Remstar Auto with C-Flex. Can you please tell me what this manual is called, so that I can ask for it by name before they deliver the machine?

Thanks!

Antonio

It's called:

"Home Care Provider Setup Instructions"

They probably won't let you have it unless you got your doctor to order them to give it to you.

Excellent find, suefox! It's not the exact manual Antonio asked about, but does have the most requested info. Cool.

Antonio, here's something you should know that the service manual on that site doesn't make very clear:

With the REMstar Auto it's VERY important that the "ramp time" be set for for 0 (zero) when that machine is being used in
autopap mode (APAP) or autopap with C-Flex mode (AFLE).
Do NOT try to set a ramp time (2, 3, or 4 hours) in either of those auto modes.

There is no traditional "ramp" in those modes with the REMstar Auto. If you try to set a ramp time in
either auto mode (APAP or AFLE) the machine will use only the lowest pressure in the range you've set,
until the number of hours has expired. It will not be treating you with varying pressure as needed during those hours.
It will be using what's called "split night therapy" instead of the varying pressure therapy you want.

Sue,

YES!!! THAT was an EXCELLENT find. (How did you find it?)

I don't know whether any of you followed that URL back to a higher level or not, but there is some more wonderful reading there (if you can call reading manuals "wonderful"). Let's rephrase that to "informative".

I kind of got bored at work and just kept poking around RemStars website - and yes, most of the manual for every one of their machines is out there.
Glad I could help.

Here's another "tip" on downloading those files......some are HUGE (like the one at the top for the Auto).
Do a right-click on the .pdf file you want to download and tell it to save it to your hard drive. When "left-clicking" and letting it go into Adobe Reader (and then saving the file), it may hang up somewhere.....did for me a couple of times till I used the direct download option.

Anyone out there have copies of the Respironic's manuals mentioned above that they would be willing to share? It appears Respironics has now moved all the service manuals to a location that requires you to log on with a password in order to get to them.

I REALLY need to fix my REMPlus if I possibly can because I never got a copy of my original prescription, the DME provider I got the machine from has gone out of business and the doctor at the Sleep Study Center who wrote the prescription five years ago is refusing to give me a copy! She insists that I have to come in for a new sleep study... but they can't schedule it for me for at least 4 weeks. If I have to wait that long to get a decent night's sleep again, I may go utterly ballistic!

Bevangel2 - search on the net "Adjusting your own cpap pressure". There you will find how to get into the setup menu for all M Series machines, including the Plus.
