Bed pillows for sleeping

Post by Gerryk » Tue May 08, 2012 8:56 pm

I have seen a few posts the past few days from new users who have had problems with masks leaking on them. Most of the problems are when they are on their side and could be eliminated by using certain pillows or learning how to adjust their pillow.

I have tried the memory foam pillow, the cpap pillow, a standard bed pillow, a down pillow and now I have a buckwheat pillow https://www.cpap.com/productpage/snuggl ... illow.html that I absolutely love.

With the buckwheat pillow I can contour the pillow so it doesn't push on my mask and move it or make it leak.

Anyone else have suggestions or tips for bed pillows?

The Pap pillow is made for wearing cpap and usually those wearing it sleep on their side, and I've heard more than a few people who can't use or don't like the hull pillows at all.

Unfortunately your buckwheat pillow is no longer available....
I use the Regenesis pillow from Pur-sleep

+1

on the Buckwheat. I researched the reviews and couldn't find anyone who said anything bad about it. It's nothing magically, but I do thing I get a better nights sleep with it. You can flatten it out with your hand to make a space for your mask. I don't think there was anything special about the CPAP pillow, since it is now unavaiable, I just ordered one that matched the size of my regular bed pillow from buckwheat pillow vendor. It is very firm, but you can easily adjust the height of the pillow by removing hulls.

I use the Contour cpap pillow. It has cut-outs for the mask when I sleep on my side. It is a foam pillow, rather hard and not very tall. I am going to check out the buckwheat pillow though. Too many folks here like it. When I think about buckwheat, I Keep thinking about "Our Gang" and expect Alfalfa to jump out.

I use the Serta Gel Foam Micro Cushion Pillow from Sam's. I obviously had the pillow before CPAP (since I am a new CPAP user) but it works well for me. I'm able to form the pillow the way I want it and it holds shape well for me. My only issue is learning to not turn my face more into the pillow, thus dislodging the mask. If I find myself doing that too much I just reform the pillow and have my mouth, nose and mask hang off the edge.

I use the Sobakawa "cloud pillow" and from what I gather reading other posts, it's pretty much akin to the buckwheat pillow only without the hulls. Presently using the standard size which is somewhat small but does the trick nicely (also is perfect for travel). I can just use my hand to make a recess for my mask to stay in and it'll stay that way as long as I need it to. I also have a large size that I had prior to beginning bipap therapy but it's a bit too cumbersome. I'll be going online and purchasing a medium soon. Another nice thing about this pillow is that you can check it out relatively inexpensively. They go for $19.95 at Walmart or Bed, Bath & Beyond.

I'm an active side sleeper and I use a fairly thin pillow that I can fold to the shape I want. I get it from my local big box type store. $6.99 on a bad day.

I had looked at the Sobakawa but none of the walmart or bed bath and beyond stores near me carried it.

I think I have tried every kind of pillow except the CPAP pillow and always come back to a regular non-allergenic foam pillow. I wear pillows and am a side sleeper - no problems.

Gerryk...take a look at this site for the Sobakawa when you have the time. They do make a pretty good offer there. https://www.buythepillow.com/index.php?page=Home

Good luck

I love my cool gel core pillow from Kohls, but I saw a pillow band that goes around your upper arm if you like to sleep with your head on your arm. My try one on each arm the the whole mask (no matter what kind) would be Pillow Free!

Was the pillow band for the arm at Kohls? That sounds interesting.

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?

My kids had small pillows with that type of filling and they used them in the car and all over the house. Their pillows were a small tube that was the perfect size for use in a car.

I looked at the description of the Sobakawa pillow and found a pillow stuffed with the micro balls also. Has anyone tried it?
