Re: what do you weigh
I got all my bloodwork within suggested tolerances--including the AST and ALT.
Especially my A1C!
Now I'm working on even smaller jeans--after dropping from a tight 18 to a loose 14.

6'-3", 250.
I've got central apnea and weight has absolutely nothing to do with centrals. If I had a doc like that, CSA would have already killed me.

Thinking of quitting CPAP?
No problem, here's the first thing to do when you quit:
Advanced funeral planning. When you give up CPAP, you'll probably need it.

Re: what do you weigh
Yesterday my nose was evaluated by ENT specialist who said " Well, if YOU have sleep apnea, then we should treat EVERYONE, then figure out those we don't need to treat". This doctor knows me from over three decades ago, when we were competitive runners and could not believe I have OSA. We're both still skinny. My husband, who also has OSA, but looks more the "thick neck type", injected the comment, "yes, she sleeps too well...like she's dead". I tried to explain the small jaw, the larger tongue, etc... to an ENT!

Re: what do you weigh
I'm really not used to those units (always used metric!)
I'm 5'9"
I weighed 291 lbs prior to starting CPAP
13 months later, I am now down to 218 lbs
Working on it... My goal is around 165 lbs.

Re: what do you weigh
As others have stated, your doctor seems a little ignorant on the subject.
I'm around 5'10" in height and weigh in at 215 lbs and in decent physical condition (work out, power-walk/run etc). I'm "big boned" as they say...no one believes me when I say I am 215. I am certainly not "fat" (I have a 34" waist), but have a neck larger than 17", 18-19" biceps, big thighs etc.
That said...I certainly could be leaner (I would like to drop 20#)...it may help the apnea.

Re: what do you weigh
5'4"/111 after gaining 5-6# from 5 months on CPAP. Severe OSA creates a hyper-metabolic state. Now I know why for years, I could eat anything I wanted and weigh so little. Initially, I attributed the low weight to competitive running. Does anyone else have a similar experience?
In response to the above: I'm 5'6" and weight 130. I've been thin my whole life and played soccer in college. I'm 25 and was recently diagnosted with OSA. Both my parents have it too. Must be genetic. Interesting comment you made. Hyper-metabolic state? I noticed in my last labs that I have TSH levels of 0.45. The acceptable range at this lab was (0.45-4.5). So it wasn't flagged. However, it was closed to being considered hyperthyroidism. Does anyone else with OSA (I'm mild with some centrals) have hyperthyroidism? Just a curious question.

Re: what do you weigh
Actually, I questioned if I had hyperthyroidism years ago, since I was losing weight with a voracious appetite. It's been checked multiple times, always normal. I read that severe OSA can cause they heart rate increase and energy output during the night while your suffocating. This is exactly what I had. Now with treatment, I'm still gaining weight, so you see if this happens to you. Like Chunky Frog, I'm anxious to get my labs, particularly if the liver enzymes are now normal.
However, Rlamb if you're not regaining wt, have your thyroid rechecked plus other thyroid tests if necessary, particularly if you have a family history of this too.
