infineer 3500 on a Macbook Pro

Post by agentandya » Tue Jan 31, 2012 5:25 am

Has anyone gotten the Infineer 3500 smart card reader to work with a Mac? i'm not even having any luck getting it to show up when i run a windows emulator. I've been on CPAP for about 4 months and my first machine had a SD card i used with Sleepyhead to see my data. I recently got a respironics bipap ASV (the old tank model) with a smart card, and now unable to see my data, i feel lost.

i'm about this close to buying an old dell laptop with xp and seeing if the encore viewer or pro software will work, but i'd really prefer to get the smart card reader working on my mac. any help is appreciated.

I feel your pain!! I have been trying to get my EncoreViewer to work on my Windows 7 64 bit machine. Finally got the program to load up, but it couldn't see the Infineer smart card reader. So now I am using my wife's 32 bit Vista machine to get my info.

Which emulator are you running? - Parallels? VMWare Fusion? CrossOver? Wine? Which?

And more importantly, which version of Windows are you running?

My impression was that Windows XP through 7 supported the Infineer 3500 smart card reader.

Have you tested your setup to the extent that you have your emulator working with other devices via the USB ports?

Regards, Nate

i'm using fusion and feeling like a luddite. it recognizes the card reader. i put the card in. nothing else happens, i can't find the data. Is the respironics bipap ASV data capable? argh.

Yes, full data.

What Encore software are you trying to use? Version?

How are you trying to import/download the data? What steps? Are you saying that when you click on "download from device" that nothing happens? No messages?

In Fusion you have to go into the menu and specify that you want the USB SmartCard reader connected to the Windows VM (virtual machine) instead of OS X. It doesn't always do it by default, I always like to double check.

yes, i connect the device in the fusion menu. maybe i don't understand how smart card readers or Windows work - i expect to then see the device somewhere in 'my computer' or on the desktop, but i don't. the card reader light is green for a few seconds, and then goes red. in sleepyhead i try to import data but there's nothing connected to get the data from.

same results on a old dell latitude running xp pro.

poop.

SleepyHead will not work with the DT3500 card reader nor the older models of any Respironics full data machine. It only works with machines that have SD cards. It will not work with the smart card readers.
Doesn't matter if a Mac or Windows computer. SleepyHead simply cannot communicate with the DT3500.

You will have to use either Encore Viewer or Encore Pro. I thought you had Encore Viewer or Pro since you mentioned getting an old XP laptop in your first post. If you want data off the older Respironics machine..you have no choice but to use one of the Encore software products. Encore Viewer is easier to manage and you gain nothing with Pro in regards to available data with the older machines.

Send me a private message if you want additional information about Encore Viewer. It is Windows based software and only installs on a 32 bit computer. I have no idea what all is involved with getting the Mac in a Windows environment...to see the DT3500.
