I am always astounded by those who would rather put drugs into their bodies than do things more naturally. Almost all pharmaceuticals have side effects, and if we can avoid them (realizing for many that isn't an option), why not pursue the natural route. Drugs vs. air....hmmmmm. For OSA the Rx is AIR.... yes, the machine/mask thing is something you have to adjust to, but it sure beats putting drugs that make you a zombie or worse into your body.

I am glad you have finally decided to get a machine and try it out. Hopefully, you will take to it quickly and be one of the lucky "duck to water" members... as I was! Go into this with an open mind, be sure you get a fully data capable machine so you can monitor your own therapy. Become empowered and assertive to work with this equipment, the DME, and your doctors. We are more than happy to support you, help guide you through issues, and get you on your way to good sleep and successful therapy.

Good luck at your titration study..... keep up updated on how it goes!

Thinking of quitting CPAP?

No problem, here's the first thing to do when you quit:

Advanced funeral planning. When you give up CPAP, you'll probably need it.

Had you said acupuncture, didgeridoo, or singing, you'd have sounded more interested in "Natural" solutions.

Whaddya mean? Haven't you seen Resmed farm in Australia? It's where they harvest the parts to construct these machines!

I can't think of anything more natural then breathing air. Simple natural solution - keeping the throat open with air. No needles, no funny noises to annoy the neighbours. Just a simple device you strap on and go to bed with. A lot more natural the contact lens or piercings.

And it's just possible they didn't pick up on sleep apnea long ago because far less was known about it and they didn't have anything like the equipment or knowledge to deal with it as they do now...

Natural is not a human sleeping with a mask on their face and air being pushed into their lungs.

Training the muscles through normal activities would be much more "natural".

Damn, I guess you people have bought into this unnatural device hook line and sinker. There are other ways.
I wear glasses, no amount of exercise is going to make a difference. I was skinny, active and into "natural healing" but no amount of exercise is capable of making my throat stay open while I sleep. I also know a lot of meditative and biofeedback techniques, none of them work on this. Also these techniques are mostly for dealing with stress and pain. In order to use them that way you need to devote at least 1/2 hour a day, or more to practising them - most people refuse to do that, you would think PAIN would motivate them but it doesn't. So, no I don't see many practising these various techniques an hour a day minimum in the hope that it will help them sleep when all you need to do is strap on a mask.

Oh and air isn't being pushed into your lungs, air is splinting your throat open. Just like a splint on your leg helps heal a break or incase of a degenerative disease, keeps you walking - yes how un natural - but then clothes are too - grow some fur why don't you?
