Old Lasinoh
Old Lasinoh
I keep a tube of Lasinoh at my son's house near Denver for when I visit. I bought it shortly after joining this forum so it's a few months hold, but not years old.
Previously, it's been rather supple and easy to get out of the tube.
This trip, it's very viscous and extremely hard to get out. It seems to work okay once I can get some. Is this normal? Are there any tricks to rejuvenate it?
His house temperature is 70 degrees.

Normal.....I have 2 tubes also, one in the house and one in the motorhome. The one in the motorhome is over a year old and has gotten hard to squeeze out of the tube, but still works like a charm. The one in the house is about 8 months old and has getting the same way as the old tube but also still works. I was thinking last night that it was time to get a new tube, your post has reminded me to put it on my shopping list .

My tube is well over 2 years old and extremely hard to squeeze but the ointment is fine. Don't know why it gets hard to squeeze but it does.

Lanolin is also very responsive to temperature, and warming it a little makes it soft and pliable again.
I put mine under the bedcovers when I turn the electric blanket on to warm the bed. Even warming the tube in your hands, massaging it a little, will soften it quite well.
Cheers,
xena

The lower the temperature, the harder it is to squeeze out of the tube.
Re: Old Lasinoh
I just bought a tube and some burt beez wax. They both seem to work just great. Im amazed it only takes a small amount. It has kept my nose good as new. Im so happy to be a part of this forum. Ive leard so much everyday. I get in and it keeps me busy reading for over a hour. I really appreciate all the help i have recieved reading my graphs. Im new and still learing. 1st monor set back. Last night allergies were horrible. Didnt sleep well. AHI was still 2.99. I cant believe it cause i tossed and turned , couldnt get compy. Nose stopped up. i feel alot better now allergy medicene finally working. I feel a good nights sleep tonight. Thanks to all for being patient with me while i learn. I have also noticed a huge differnce in my stomach issues... Never had reflux just a pressure ( gassy) only a carbonated drink would help and prilosec . I have a hiatal hearnia. Now only one prolosec in the morning. Maybe the airflow is keeping things where they need to be. Chest been a little sore from breathing differnt at first wotrking to exhale. But all better now.
Thanks for letting me in the family. May God bless each of you Together we will tackle this apena we have and live a good productive life.

Re: Old Lasinoh
I learned a new CPAP lesson yesterday. If you're going to share a tube of Lasinoh, you might want to use a Q-tip when you remove the substance from the tube. My wife came into the bathroom last night while I was sliming up my nose with the stuff and I noticed her staring at me. "What is it?" I said. "Well you've got your finger half way up your nostril and I was wondering how you planned to get the Lasinoh in your other nostril."
I hadn't thought about that but quickly responded, "Uh...with the other finger?" Next time, I'll use a Q-tip and, probably, my own personal tube. BTW, I also find that the lanolin gets thicker as the temperature goes lower.

My tube must have been old when I bought it at Target.
I had no idea.

Chunkyfrog, are you saying that because it is thicker or because it is contaminated like mine now? Snoringshrink is co-utilizing my Lansinohchunkyfrog wrote:My tube must have been old when I bought it at Target.
