New User- How Long to See Results
New User- How Long to See Results
I just received my CPAP Machine and was wondering how long before I see results from it. Thanks.

Hi Vegas. Welcome. Please enter your equipement via the User Control Panel at the top of the page. Use text if possible.
Members can respond to your questions more accurately. Response to therapy is very different for each person and is dependent on many factors. I know that isn't a cut and dried answer, but this is not a cut and dried condition.

Re: New User- How Long to See Results
If you have a data-capable machine, you will see results right away, but that's really not what you're asking.
The answer to your real question is - no one knows.
Some people wake up after their first night feeling incredibly good - they are the minority. Some people can take weeks, months or years until they actually FEEL great.
I've been at this just over a year - my DATA says the therapy is very successful, however I don't actually feel FABULOUS and bounce out of bed every morning. There are more subtle changes - I don't get tired as early in the evening and can tolerate a night of 3-hours sleep much better than before CPAP and I do feel my brain isn't as foggy or forgetful.
Hope this helps a little, but sorry it's so vague.
Cheers,
xena

Re: New User- How Long to See Results
Anywhere from one day to a few weeks to several months and in some cases it can be one or more years.
Seriously...some folks get instant results, but for most, it takes time and work. You've got to watch your software to make sure your therapy is doing what it's suppsoed to and to see if you're mask is leaking or not. Other factors can affect your sleep as well, such as what side you sleep on, are you moving the mask in your sleep, taking it off, do you have insomnia issues, etc etc etc etc etc.
I say all this so you don't think this is a matter of putting your mask on and {{bingo}}, you sleep great for the rest of your life (though it's possible). In reality you may encounter obstacles to your therapy, most of which can be worked through.
I highly suggest finding a good forum you like, staying there, and do a ton of reading. Personally I like this one the best, but there are others out there as well.
As for the therapy, we've all been there done that and most likely whatever you run into, someone else has as well and you'll get many suggestions to make your therapy a success.
Just hang in there, keep a good attitude, and you'll be able to make it work. Good luck!

Thinking of quitting CPAP?
No problem, here's the first thing to do when you quit:
Advanced funeral planning. When you give up CPAP, you'll probably need it.
