Hi folks. Just got the results of my titration and am worried about my % REM sleep. I will display both reports for evaluation, but post titration with an RDI of 30 per hour?

The study is over. Quit worrying about the past.

Turn your concern into action. Make sure you get a data-capable machine with software, take control of your therapy, get your AHI and RDI down to a healthy level, and enjoy some good REM.

If you didn't, request the complete report with condensed graphs. That will give you more information. It does sound like you have a good case for an APAP. Get your doc to write the script for it.

I wouldn't get too concerned about the sleep study. I mean, in your first study you had over 5 hours sleep, and in your 2nd with the mask, you had under 4 and maybe didn't have enough time to get into rem. Perhaps you reached rem in that 5th hour in your first study and didn't have a chance to reach rem in the second study because you didn't sleep that long. So its all a guess at this point, especially since we cannot see the actual results.

Like monkey said, don't worry so much about that one test. If the study revealed sleep apnea, something can be done about it now and you'll have thousands of chances to get rem sleep.

As Liz suggested, try to get the more complete reports. I found it really helped going forward to understand exactly what my study and titration showed and didn't show.

It's likely that the "post titration" AHI of 30 was really an average for the entire night at all the pressures tried rather than the AHI at your final pressure. The complete report will show that. It should show a breakdown for every pressure tried, how long you spent at that pressure, and what your AHI was.
