OT: Liberty Medical/Medco - Mumble, Grumble

Post by Slinky » Sat Aug 13, 2011 10:45 pm

Okay, you can't say I didn't warn you in the subject line!!! I just needed to vent.

I HAVE to get my regular meds thru Medco due to my insurance. Liberty Medical bought out Medco. My insurance has been paying their portion for my COPD meds. I placed my refill order w/Medco for my COPD meds. And got a phone call from Liberty. Medicare Part B will pay Liberty for my COPD meds therefore Liberty needed information from me. I was napping when they called and don't even remember all the questions they asked me except what was my dosage and who was my doctor. That's on the script why ask me???

THEN I get an e-mail, from Medco, my order placed on the 9th will be shipped - on the 19th. 10 freaking days to ship it? I'll have to go 2 days w/o one of the meds or get an emergency script for a few or go to 1/2 dose for a couple of days.

It was a h*ll of a whole lot easier and more pleasant to use my little ole local pharmacy and friendly pharmacist!!! I know, I know. I've gotta be grateful I have pretty good prescription insurance coverage - but - DANG! Ah, for the good ole days. *sigh*

I didn't like Medco - and obviously Liberty Medical and I have gotten off on the wrong foot and I'm not gonna like them either.

There! I feel better.

Medco also shifted my Albuterol supplies to Liberty. They called, seemed nice, shipped promptly. However I never managed to get a refill on it. I'm searching for someone else to send it to--figure if Medicare paying I don't have to follow Medco trail on this.

I can't remember the other mail order company besides Liberty I've seen advertising on TV.

Oh, yeah! Liberty also asked what make and model nebulizer I was using and hold old it was, when did I get it? So I suppose any day now I will be getting a notice that my nebulizer is old and due for replacement. I got my nebulizer in June of 2001 and it is still working just fine, thank you.

Been there, done that with Medco. You place an order, wait for the shipping information, and find out that they won't ship for about 10 days, which translates into 14 to 15 for snail mail shipping. You call them and tell them that you need it quicker. Yes, they can overnight it to you for an additional $50 expedited handling. If they can do that, why not hand it to USPS tomorrow?

I miss being able to go to CVS and get my meds the same day.

We used to have Medco, but our insurance carrier changed to PrimeMail several years ago.
(apparently, when they were still adequate)
So far, no problems with Prime. And I give them lots of 'attaboys' when I get a person on the phone.
I hope I don't get stuck with such a raving bunch of clowns like mudco when I retire.
