Post by 77Godspeed » Fri Aug 19, 2011 8:44 am

Can anyone give me advice on preventing air in my stomach, or at least minimizing it? Also what could this cause long term?
thanks

The term's aerophagia. "Air swallowing." You have two esophagal sphincters. One in your throat, the other just above your stomach. If they don't both remain tightly closed, air leaks past them and gets into your stomach. When your stomach contracts it either forces the air out your esophagus (burp) or into the intestine (phart). You might talk to your doc. I don't know that it's really a problem.
