Its interesting though,I recently saw a sleep specialist and he said with the continued use of a CPAP the central type of apnia may go away. He suggested that Resmed just wanted me to buy the more expensive machine.
ozze_dollar, there is one key word in that paragraph. "MAY". For such a small, three letter word the impact is HUGE.

What might happen if it does not go away? Well, all the traditional problems with sleep apnea - uncontrolled high blood pressure, ongoing high stress hormones, increased body weight, increased risk of diabetes, increased risk of damage to kidneys, increased risk of cardiac issues, increased risk of strokes ...

"MAY" will require REALLY careful monitoring. If it does not go away and you continue to have central apneas, you need to have it addressed. As someone who ended up with permanent kidney damage because I could not get doctors to take my central apnea seriously, PLEASE keep a close eye on it. I do not want to see anyone else in the same situation.
Point noted.

I, too, have been diagnosed with Complex Apnea. I have been on the hose for right at a year. That hose is my new best friend. Why?

BEFORE my therapy:

For 10 years I had "unexplained" dizzy / nausea spells that would hit suddenly and last most of the day

My memory was GONE......

I didn't have the energy to get through my day.

SINCE MY THERAPY BEGAN:

(knocking on wood) I haven't had but a couple of my nausea spells that have plagued me for a decade of my life. The last one was about 8 months ago.

My memory is slowly getting better. At least now I KNOW that I don't know! LOL

My energy level is 10 times better. I make it through my day with energy to spare.

Finding the right mask is critical to successful therapy. I was fortunate that I found mine rather quickly. Stick with it. It will be the best thing you ever accomplished.

Try screen shot. This is how I do it.

Open the image to full size so it is easily read.
I use Vista snipping tool to create a screen shot and crop the image at the same time.
Prt/scr key will also take a screen shot if using XP. If laptop is used sometimes the Fn key has to be pushed at the same time as the prt/scr key
I think windows 7 Home Premium has the snipping tool, Basic may not.
Once the screen shot is created save it in jpg format.
Upload the image to a host site. I use Photobucket it is free, there are others.
Once the image is uploaded then copy the ENTIRE IMG address. Be sure to include the opening and closing IMG in brackets. Paste that copied address into a post here.
Use the preview button. If you can't see the image try again because if you can't see it we can't.

@Pugsy--Ok, I'll have my hubby help me with this. I started work again this wk and have been working days and some nights so quite exhausted. What makes it more complicated is that I prefer using my desktop, however, the 'card reader' on the desktop was a lemon and doesn't read my ResMed data card, so we have to use our laptop.

So for those who do have complex insomnia---are there anyone who has started w/ the apap and then moved to the bipap or avap or auto servo ventiliator? I'm trying to gauge why I"m not tolerating my apap. The mask seems fine. (Swift nasal pillows). I just have trouble falling asleep and staying asleep. They said that my UARS symptoms make me super hypersensitive. I've been asked to use the machine gradually for a couple of hrs. But i'd like to--and sooner or later--need to learn to use it for a normal night. So I was just wondering if it's b/c i may not have the ideal machine for my condition--if this may contribute to my problem to sleep w/ it???

Thanks.

Or could my apap machine be set in a bi-level mode?
